Irrigation is the artificial application of water to the agricultural land.
It is used to assist in the growing of agricultural crops, maintenance of landscapes, and revegetation of disturbed soils in dry areas and during periods of inadequate rainfall.
Irrigation also has a few other uses in crop production, which include protecting plants against frost.
Over Irrigation because of poor distributionuniformity or management wastes water, chemicals, and may lead to water pollution.
Under Irrigation leads to increased soil salinitywith consequent build up of toxic salts on soilsurface in areas with high evaporation.
Farm Lands & Fields situated miles away fromyour home. Extensive travel required, sometimes several times in a day to start & stopthe irrigation water pumps.

• Solar panel refers to a photovoltaic(PV) module.
• Solar modules use light energy (photons) from the sun to generate electricity.
• Ranges from 100 to 320 watts.
Photovoltaic cell performs basically 3 operation:
1.The absorption of light, generating either electron-hole pairs or exactions.
2.The separation of charge carriers of opposite
types.
3.The separate extraction of those Carriers to an external circuit.
PV cells are made of special materials called semiconductors like silicon.
When a photon (a light particle) hits the panel, it has enough energy to knock an electron loose, allowing it to flow freely.
The panel then has several electrical fields to force the electrons to move in a certain direction, producing direct current which can be
used to do work.
I. Rechargeable batteries are the batteries that can be restored to full charge by application ofelectrical charge.II . Rechargeable batteries are also calledStorage batteries or the secondary cells.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR:
I . The LM35 is an integrated circuit sensor.
II. Used to measure temperature with an
electrical output proportional to the temp;(in c).
III. The LM35 does not require any external
Calibration.
IV. An accuracy of +/-0.4 o C at room temperature
and +/- 0.8 o C over a range of 0 o C to +100oC.
V . When the temperature in the field increases then the sensors sense's it & further operations takes place
MOISTURE SENSOR:
Soil moisture probes can be permanently installed at representative points in an agricultural field to provide repeated moisture readings over time that can be used for irrigation management.
A relay is an electrical switch
that uses an electromagnet to
move the switch from the off
to on position instead of a
person moving the switch .
Liquid-crystal display - LCD.
LCD uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals.
LCDs are available to display arbitrary , fixed images preset words, digits, and 7-segment displays as in a digital clock.
LCD: 16×2 Liquid Crystal Display which will display the 32 characters at a time in two rows.
There are 16 pins in the LCD module, each pin have different function.
LCD can be easily interfaced with microcontroller to display a message or status of a device.
