Project Proposal
Opportunity to develop a physics style puzzle game for the ipad based on a Rube Goldberg machine
A Rube Goldberg machine is a deliberately over-engineered machine that performs a very simple task
Mousetrap Board Game
Aim of the game is to get an object from a starting point on the screen to an end point somewhere else on the screen e.g. A ball or balloon
Use items from the inventory and drag and place them on the screen to create mechanics to move the object from start to end point
Once path is setup press start and see if the object reaches the goal. If not then replay the level and move items, otherwise continue to next level
Example items – conveyor belts, pulleys, anvils, ramps, fans
User Identification:
Specifically aimed at ipad users due to larger playing surface on screen
(small screen seen as weakness of similar games on iphone)
People who enjoy puzzle games
Review of the field:
Looked at The Incredible Machines (TIM)PC game from 1993 as main influence
No iphone/ipad version of TIM
Other similar games

Closest existing competitor - Crazy Machines:

Reviews stated too small when playing on iphone Ipad version launched Jan 2011
Cost $2.99
My aims for my game:
Create similar game adding additional mechanics such as portals, water based puzzles, location specific puzzles and different items
Get game in app store and sell at a cheaper cost
Possible upgrades – more levels & level editor add on
