Character ProfileThe ByzantineCannibal

The character I received was the Byzantine Cannibal anprofile I have developed for him has changed drasticallthe start of the project just one week ago. First I imaginean old man who desired absolute dominance over his vand the description I put together made him a very rea

character. After much evolution in his personality and afleshing out of the character as an actual member of ansociety, with the cannibalistic nature of my character befeeding habit and not a primary focus of his person.

Character Monologue: The Empire has begun to thrive, gold pours to the city coffers, people arrive in droves and pour through the citgates like cattle while our hunting grounds, Constantines huntinggrounds, grow ever larger. The fall of the west was His last gift to us,the faithful, before His ascension into the skies.

O Magna Vulturem, may your mighty wings shield us from theworlds sight, may your piercing eyes spy the most valuable prey,may our offerings reach your vicious beak, may our relentless chanbe heard by your sharpened ears, may our practices please yourterrifying mind and your hunger of flesh inspire us, fuel us become uas we become closer to you, join with you, become one with you,and one of your many feathers.

The cattle at the gates are His gift to us, men, women and childrenthe most abundant of commodities and the secret of their creatiounguarded, recruits for our gangs, slaves for our homes, livestock foour breeding grounds and offerings for His almighty beak.

Secret Lair Visual ConceptByzantine Vulture Cult

The visual concept for my secret lair takes the form of a cult,consisting of aristocrats and business men, men of power andelaborate taste in both design and food. Their power is grand andtheir belief even grander, turning the great emperor Constantine intoa god, a deity that ascended to the skies become a great vulture,watchful and vicious. Their devotion to him is such that the walls andcolumns are covered in relief carvings of regal design and sickening

imagery. The grand representation of the Magna Vulturem (GreatVulture) is off such importance to this cult that statues and mosaics ofHim are common within its members homes and private rooms. Thecult has many rich and powerful members and as such have manylarge and grand halls and temples dedicated to the MagnaVulturem, some are hidden inconspicuously within the undergroundwater tanks, hidden skilfully within the forests of pillars.

There are some however that are in plain view to the public eye,grand and profusely decorated with gold and velvet, cleverlydisguised iconography and overly decorative mosaics withunderlying imagery. Both the public and private temples have themost important room to worshippers of the Magna Vulturem, which

is the sacrificial chamber. A circular room lined with golden archesand three tiered seating looking down into the centre in which sitsan alter, made of jet black granite. The sides of the alter areengraved with channels that match similar markings made into therooms floor, the edges are lined with gold coverings, etched withdelicate regal markings. These details pale drastically in comparisoto the top of the altar, which is beautifully engraved with the

founding of Constantines new capital, a glorious and beautifieddepiction of the city and its emperor, then his death and ascensionto the skies; all of this is over arched by a majestic, but terrifying,vulture.

Hero Prop Visual ConceptMagnaVulturem Black Granite Altar

The hero prop for my secret lair will be the black granite altar Ipreviously described in the visual concept for my secret lair.

The sides of the alter are engraved with channels that matchsimilar markings made into the rooms floor, the edges are lined withgold coverings, etched with delicate regal markings. These details

pale drastically in comparison to the top of the altar, which isbeautifully engraved with the founding of Constantines newcapital, a glorious and beautified depiction of the city and itsemperor, then his death and ascension to the skies; all of this is ovearched by a majestic, but terrifying, vulture.

I think this is the most logical hero prop for my secret lair concept todate as the object by nature is going to be detailed and thedescription I have given for the object gives a great ground work fome to build on and construct a highly detailed object. I amconfident about my abilities to create this object within Maya and

have great ideas for how to overlay the cannibal idea onto thisenvironment by the use of a intricate pattern cut into the floor forblood that flows from the altar to fill. The sacrificial victim upon thealtar has their chest cavity split open with a hand axe shaped like awing and the then cut open with the High-Priests ceremonial knifethat takes the form of a vultures beak. The heart is exhumed fromthe chest and is held high above the High-Priests head thencrushed, the blood drenching his face only to be consumed

violently, like a vulture. The body is left in place as the ceremonialcalling of Magna Vulturem is chanted, with the offering of thevictims soul and flesh. After which, a entourage of cloaked priestsenter the room and carefully remove the sacrifices organs, for alater banquet, and a small amount of flesh is removed to be placeinto a sealed container that hangs high up in the sacrificialchamber.
