Abstract
The aim of this project is to render an accurate translation of the article “Approaches to studying Language in Preschool Classrooms”. That is an article by David K. Dickinson in which the author discusses about approaches to studying the language used by teachers and 3-and-four year-old children in preschool classrooms. Additionally, He describes the manner in which the data was collected and analysed; furthermore, he reports on the illustrative findings of the research. Aiming to achieve an accurate translation of the article, some research on the topic has been done. Book chapters and other articles had been studied. The translation will be realised according to the techniques leaned in the translations courses and with the help of a tutor and some specialist in the education field. Finally the analysis of the translation will be done according to Vinay and Darbelnet’s techniques.
Introduction 1.1 BackgroundCommunication is an intrinsic need of human beings; we through language establish relationships with members of our community as well as with foreigners. Sometimes, nevertheless, language represents a barrier that hinders that effort. As Sofer argues in his book, The translator Handbook (2002) “Neighbouring tribes and nations have always spoken different dialects and even totally different languages. And yet they had to talk each other …”
1.2 RationaleIn the field of education research relating to children language development are being conducted by English speaker researchers in English speaking countries; the procedures and the results which would be interesting for many people working in the education field should be translated into other languages so that more people can get benefits from them. That is why I plan to translate the article “Approaches to Studying Language in Preschool Classrooms” by David K. Dickinson. This is a article that addresses some approaches to studying language used by teachers and 3-and-four year old children in preschool classrooms.
1.3 Objectives1. First to provide an accurate translation of the information contained in the article “Approaches to Studying Language in Preschool Classrooms” so that those interested in working in that specific area of education be aware and proud of the importance of the work they realize with children.
2. Second, to apply the knowledge of the English language I have acquired during the major alongside with the techniques learnt during the translation courses to prove myself that I am able to successfully perform tasks like this in my professional life.
1.4 Relevance of the research project A last reason to fulfil this task is that a professor in the major of humanities plans to include this text in her course program. Since she considers that most of the students in the major would have difficulties understanding this chapter, she decided to get someone to translate it
2. Theoretical FrameworkVinay and Darbelnet (1958) stated that translation can be fulfilled through two types of methods. They claim that some translations tasks do not require anything but transposing the source language message constituent by constituent into the target language, because it is based on parallel categories (structural parallelism) or on parallel concepts (metalinguistic parallelism), in which case literal translation procedures can be employed. Their techniques will be employed to complete this project.

3. MethodTo realise this project, information will be gathered from different , experts on the field). Once familiarity with the topic has been obtained , the translation process will start with the writing of a first draft which will de reviewed for a tutor and modified. This process will be repeated as many times as need.
