2014 Wildfire Risk Reduction Grant (WRRG) Program
PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
To conduct fire-fuel mitigation on high hazard risk private property in the Town of Palmer Lake
Treatment on parcels determined according to property owner cash-match pledge,
Together with in-kind soft-match volunteer hours, and in keeping with confidentialpre/post FireWise Assessment arranged with PLVFD Fire Marshal/Designees.
Treated property will serve as FireWise Community demonstration/recognition sites
To accomplish wildfire risk reduction on red zone public property and, with permission, on other
high hazard property in Palmer Lake, including tax exempt property owned by private non-profit
organizations
Treatment of such property determined according to business, organization, other
individual cash-match pledge, together with in-kind soft-match volunteer hours
Construct strategically located shaded fire breaks, in particular southwestern sections of
and adjacent to The Glen, sites to be determined by PLVFD Fire Marshal/Designees
To provide for employment of local and regional fire-fuel mitigation contractors, certified
firefighters, and trained volunteersto aid The Town of Palmer Lake, as well as private propertyowners who wish toconduct wildfire risk reduction treatment and slash disposition on their ownland
To provide for employment of privately-hired individuals and volunteers to handle planning,maintenance, oversight, administration, and accountability of the Project in the aid of the Town
of Palmer Lake authorities and private property owners.Insurance to be handled by private property owners, contractors, and certified mitigators, with no
liability assumed by the Town of Palmer Lake unless specifically approved in advance.
