Short Course Proposal Format – below details how we would generally kick-off a pre-training review; Course TitleThe course title must describe the course's content and/or purpose. Course titles should be action oriented, suggest application and practical value. (ATEX & DSEAR Application & Awareness – General Principals, Operational, Installation, Maintenance)

Course Description - please provide a detailed description of the course that includes:The importance, timelines, and value of the course to the participants. The goal of the course. The method(s) of teaching (lecture, workshops, case studies, etc..)Uniqueness of content or approach to the subject matter.Problems or issues this course will address.

Specific ObjectivesThis section should focus on specific learning outcomes that are clear, concise and measurable. This section is crucial to helping a potential participant decide if he/she should attend or seek management's support for attendance. Objectives should describe to learners exactly what knowledge, skills, and/or attitudes they are expected to accomplish/demonstrate as a result of completion of this course and how this course will benefit participants in their workplace.

Course Audience – Who Should Attend?Define the potential learners/target audience and any prerequisites for this course. Illustrate the management level, educational level and professional preparation of the participant who is ideally suited for the course. Be as specific as possible (e.g. “course applies to all engineers” is too broad).Level of audience – introductory, intermediate, advanced Include specific industries or companies where there is a need for this course.

Course Outline Detailed course agenda including the time spent on each topic/subject (e.g. Day 1 Morning – include breaks, meal times, etc.) and if more than one instructor, list the respective instructor next to each topic. The typical course schedule is 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.Outline all learning activities* that will be utilised, (e.g. problem solving, case studies, group discussions, listening to lecture, workshops, etc. Learning activities should provide opportunities for learners to be actively involved, interact with instructors and other students and provide feedback on what they have learned. The learning activities and content need to be consistent with objectives.

Assessment MeasuresDescribe the process used to assess achievement of the learning outcomes/objectives. How will the learners demonstrate that they have achieved the stated objectives, (e.g. group or self assessment techniques, problem-solving, completion of project, case studies). Assessment method must be measurable or observable and focused on the performance of the learner.



Training Package Proposal:

Develop a program of deliverables against the deliverable items (part of which are listed below) • Basic Concepts • Classification • Methods of Protection • Fieldbus networks • Certification • Maintenance

Address Key issues of the training to be delivered & develop training content • Overview of equipment types (including photos of equipment in situ on site) • Where they fit in the process • Installation requirements • Equipment markings • Installation, Service & Replacement procedures/schedules

Review with relevant discipline engineer the package to be trained out Determine a program of delivery Develop presentation per delivery topic Review with engineer & agree train out program

Key: Make the package bespoke to the relevant area or site for ease of understanding and interpretation.

At the end of this module you will know:

• The history of hazardous areas

• About basic concepts regarding hazardous areas such as: Flammable materials The fire triangle Explosive limits Properties of materials like flashpoint and ignition temperatures

• About dust hazards



Classification:


• Understand different classification systems

• Understand area classification

• Understand material and temperature classification

• Learn how to carry out area classification of a typical facility

PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Germany)

This is the National Institute of Natural and Engineering sciences and the highest technical authority for metrology and physical safety engineering of the Federal Republic of Germany.

SIRA (Test & Certification Ltd, UK)

Offer testing and certification of hazardous area equipment to manufacturers among other services.

BASEEFA (UK) Tests facilities for hazardous area equipment and issues certificates.

DEMKO (Denmark) An internationally recognised body for certification.

KEMO (Netherlands) An accredited body in Netherlands which offer testing and certification facilities for explosion protected equipment.
