Is doctoral research the right thing for me? What job opportunities do I have after the doctorate? Which strategies are helpful in the postdoc phase? We support you in the different stages of your academic career with information and networking events. Benefit from the exchange of experience with peers and experts. In addition, you will receive transparent information about career paths in academia and beyond. Many of these events, such as the Wirtschafts-kolleg on non-university career options, the Karriereforum for postdoctoral researchers or the Sommerabend, are offered within the RAR and thus give you the opportunity to expand your network across universities. For female doctoral and postdoctoral researchers we also offer a cross-university mentoring programme for academic career development (mentoring³) in co-operation with our partner universities in the RAR.

Graduate Center Plus (GC Plus) supports the faculties and institutions of the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) in optimally promoting early career researchers.

As an interdisciplinary service institution, we bundle information on all aspects of doctoral and postdoctoral research and show the wide range of support and qualification opportunities at the UDE.

We also offer individual counselling and a varied workshop programme as well as information and career events.

Good scientific practice

Knowing and applying the principles for safeguarding good scientific practice (GSP) is a basic prerequisite for honest and accurate research. We regularly integrate GSP workshops into our programme. In addition, we offer customized workshops for structured doctoral programmes on request.

Interdisciplinary Qualification

In addition to your professional expertise, interdisciplinary competencies are an important part of your academic and professional development. Our workshops support you in preparing for your further career within the university and beyond.

For those interested in a doctorate and for doctoral researchers we offer workshops and academies on topics such as:

For postdoctoral researchers, RAR offers a varied workshop programme in the following fields:
