PROPER INTERVIEW OUTFITS (for MEN and

WOMEN)


Before you leave for the interview:

•Make sure you are dressed professionally and your shoes are polished;

•You haven't overdone (none is better than too much) the perfume or aftershave.


Typical description of interview attire:

•the blue suit; the description still applies even though we live in a more casual society. The dark blue suit is still the preferred attire by college recruiters.

•Black suits are the second choice followed by a light gray suit. Dark blue in particular seems to convey a sense of strength while not being too somber.


Female candidates have more options when considering

interview attire :

•A business suit with a skirt is the most traditional and conveys a sense of responsibility and seriousness. Skirts should be knee length or lower and have no slits.


• Pantsuits are a viable option for interviews. They are more common in the workplace and some employers are very open to candidates wearing pantsuits.

ADVICE REGARDING PROPER BEHAVIOUR

DURING JOB INTERVIEWS and

INTERVIEW TIPS


• Be on time for the interview; that means five to ten minutes early.

• Appear relaxed and friendly, smile and show a good sense of humour but do not show off.


• Answer the question directly, do not beat about the bush, go straight to the point. Do not over-elaborate your answers: they will ask you more if they want you to expand on them.


• Be prepared to answer questions about yourself but also about the firm/establishment where you have applied to the job. Research information before this moment, do you homework well to show interest in the job you applied for.


• If they ask you why you want that job, be prepared to give a really convincing answer and if they ask you why you think you are the best candidate for that job, again, give an answer which is convincing but honest.


• They may want to know what previous experience you have in a certain field. If you don’t have any, just say so but, if it helps, you can had that you are willing to learn more or to go on a course to prepare yourself for the job they require you to do.


• Any application handed before the interview begins, are to be filled in as accurately as possible, make sure they match the information in your CV and Cover Letter.


• Do not lie in any interview or in your CV. You will make things worse for you. Always tell the truth.

• Do not rely on others for anything. Be confident and trust yourself.
