Drinking Water

Private well water

The brick built well, about 10m deep, provides a private supply of water. A submerged electrical pump supplies water into the pipework and can be directed to the swimming pool or for irrigation of the vegetable patch. Well water is not drinkable.

Canal water

Canal water is supplied from the Bornos lake, one of the largest lakes in the area. The irrigation channel that carries water from the Bornos lake passes along the hill above the property, elevated above the property by approximately 20 meters. It is pumped and will also operate under gravity. The canal water can be directed to irrigation or the swimming pool. The canal provides water from April to November, normally Monday to Friday, depending on conditions. The canal supply to the property is the same as that used by local commercial farmers. The property owner is a member of the canal user group and is entitled to attend relevant meetings. Canal water is not drinkable.
