COMMON PROBLEM

You are leaving for work in a rush, once again, even though you swore you would get up earlier the night before. On your way out of the door you scramble to make sure you have everything with you that you will need for the day (keys, phone, laptop, gym bag etc.). About 15 minutes later, while stuck in traffic, you realize you forgot your wallet! What now? Either you head back home and a half an hour later you are in the same spot OR you wing the day without any money. This type of thing happens everyday to tens of thousands if not millions of people.

If only there were a solution…

SOLUTION

A property monitoring device that keeps track of all your selected items AND reminds you about selected items when you walk out the door. No more forgetting! We strive to make technology more efficient. Why not use technology to make us more efficient?

HOW IT WOULD WORK

- Bluetooth or GPS tracking stickers• You will first need to place a tracking sticker on each item you wish to keep track

of.• Each of these tracking stickers will have their own ID so the monitoring software

can identify each item.• There will be a database for all of the items you wish to ID.- Main User Interface by any exit• There will be a touch screen by the door from which you come and go.• You will be able to drag desired item IDs into an active list. • The active list will indicate which items are with you (or not) when leaving the

exit• The interface will use Bluetooth technology to detect the items on you when

you leave the exit.• There will be an icon or indicator light that makes you aware of this

phenomenon when leaving.• GREEN- All items in the active list are presently on you. You are good to go! • RED- All items in the active list are not with you. The item needed will display

on the screen. • The interface will also be equipped with a sound notification option that could

be customized.• You will be able to move IDs, freely on the interface, back and forth from the

active and inactive list. • You will also be able to set your interface to search for different Bluetooth ID

stickers at different set times. (This will allow for multiple users that need this at different set times)

OTHER POSSIBLE FEATURES AND OPTIONS - Web Accessible Database• A database of all your items could be accessed via the web with just the

right credentials. • You could track locations of all active and inactive IDs (Active items only

apply to the interface by the exit).• You are not only limited to keeping track of IDs when you leave the

house but could also tag items like remote controls, hair brushes and your pet.

• There could be a custom bird view visual of your home with dots for each ID item. (Could use Google Earth if no other option)

• Side note: There may need to be a more centralized Bluetooth signaling device in the home, depending on the strength of the interface by the door.

- Security Features and Phone App• This could be used to track items that leave the perimeter of your

property. • When an item leaves your property perimeter you could be sent a

notification. • There could be an application that accesses the database as well as

receives notifications when an item leaves the property.

WHO IS THE TARGET MARKET?• Anyone who is forgetful• Anyone who likes to be organized and efficient• Any age• Technology enthusiasts • Large market and few limitations • Targeted toward technology savvy clients in the beginning

with a hopeful good word of mouth• Product possibilities are versatile so adjustments could be

made based on competition saturation. (Example: If there is already too much saturation in the market for Bluetooth tracking, we could focus on the doorway interface and be complimentary to the Bluetooth tracking market)

COMPETITION/ CURRENT MARKET TECHNOLOGY• “StickNFind” is a Bluetooth tracking product that uses Bluetooth devices to track

items from your cell phone. Basically you attach these Bluetooth trackers to any valuable item and you are able to view the items from your phone app. http://www.sticknfind.com/

• “hipKey” is another type of Bluetooth tracker that sounds an alarm when items get too far away from you. It is essentially a device that helps people protect their valuables. http://hippih.com/

With “hipKey” when the Bluetooth device gets too far, an alarm is triggered to play audio on your phone and the device.

Page 8: PROPERTY MONITORING TECHNOLOGY BY: ALEXANDER GOUNTRAS

COMPETITION WEAKNESS• Tracking devices are bulky (LED light, speaker, about the size of a quarter).• They are limited to Cell Phone application use. • The trackers are fairly pricey

• hipKey $89.95 at Apple Store• StickNfind 49.99 for 2

• They are only used for one purpose.• Not easily integrated into daily life enough for a “must have” product

EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS• Smaller Bluetooth stickers (no need for lighting and speaker)• Creating a secure database webpage and doorway user

interface in addition to a phone application.• Having a lower Bluetooth sticker cost • Making the product versatile enough where there is not only

one function but a series of unlimited possibilities.

UNKNOWNS

• Are there existing Bluetooth stickers that do not need a battery and is creating a non-bulky sticker possible yet?

• What would be the price point for the doorway user interface? Should it be a smaller device with limited basic functionality or should it be a larger IPAD type screen at a higher price point?

• How do you go about making custom hardware? • Should we focus more on solutions and innovations for existing technology or

start from scratch?• What is the feasibility?
