News in a Nutshell P POA NOTES WELCOME NEW BOARD MEMBERS! With the new year comes two new Board members-- Guy Steiger and Courtney Barker--and the current Board would like to welcome and thank them for their willingness to serve their community. Guy was also recently elected President as of January 21, 2020, in the absence left by former President Chris Bergaila. We know you both will bring new and creative ideas, skills and experiences to the Board of Trustees and the entire community! THANK YOU! OUR HEARTFELT APPRECIATION. . . As most of you are aware, as of 10/15/19, three of our long-serving Board members resigned or retired, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the many years of service from Jim Ashmore, Fred Ross and Paula Gibson. The three of these Board members have served their community well for such a long time, and we will truly miss them. To volunteer your time, effort, knowledge and skills to serving others is one of life's highest callings, so again, thank you Jim, Fred and Paula for your long and valuable service to the Pecan Grove community. We wish you well! IS YOUR STREET LIGHT OUT? If the street light near you is not on, please contact CenterPoint at 713-207-2222 and tell them the 6 serial numbers on the pole. A service person should then be able to come directly to your location and repair the light in a timely manner. REMEMBER YOUR 2020 DUES! Your maintenance fee bill must be paid in full by February 28, 2020. Those who still owe will incur a $25 late fee as of March 1, 2020. The Maintenance Fee is still $190 which is extremely reasonable for a community the size of Pecan Grove, so please submit your payment by check or money order to the address on your invoice or drop it off at our office at 1421 FM 359, Suite A, which is downstairs in the one-story part of the brown building known as Plantation Center--south end opposite the Barber Shop. There is as mail drop in the door if you want to pay after office hours. A FEW MORE CONSIDERATIONS Probably the most frequent complaints that we receive are: 1) Owners not cleaning up after their dogs leave a "deposit" in a neighbor's yard; 2) Owners or yard personnel leaving grass clippings in the street. Grass clippings usually end up in the storm sewer, clogging the system, which causes flooding. 3) Folks using the golf cart paths for personal exercise. Remember the golf course is private property to be used for playing golf only. And please be a good neighbor and bring your dog inside when he continues to bark. We hope that all of you will continue to be good neighbors who care about each other. There is no better time than NOW to say a kind word or do something thoughtful for someone else. And may we always remember in our thoughts and prayers our men and women in uniform who are risking their lives on a daily basis serving our country.
