Proportions A proportion is an equation that shows
that two ratios are equivalent
Solve proportions by cross multiplying
A proportion needs to have 3 numbers and a variable to be a proportion.

Example: Ana could bake 10 cakes in 12 hrs at this rate how many cakes can she bake in 30 hrs ?

How-to-Solve-Proportions (Steps to previous example)
1. Align the numbers with the right units [for example hrs with hrs and cakes with cakes .]2. Cross multiply[ for example (10 cakes x30 hrs ) and (x cakes x 12 hrs)] .3.Use inverse operation to find x [for example 12x=300 so divide 300 by 12.]4. Finally your answer is 25.

Steps- to- example- on- slide -310 cakes/12 hrs=x cakes /30 hrs
30x10=300 12(x)=300/12=25 X=25 cakes
