Working Title: Flash/Back Genre: My work will be a mix of two genres, which are Horror and Thriller both of which have been occasionally used together in the past. Specifically I will be creating a psychological Thriller and Horror piece as I will be dealing mainly with my protagonist’s mental state to both Thrill (plot twist) and scare (Mental struggles/fantasies) my audience. Synopsis / Treatment: An unnamed protagonist awakens in a small crammed and bare bedroom which at first seems normal however he then goes out into the world and realises nothing is how it should be to which a mental struggle against himself occurs leading him to question his own existence and the existence of others, during this he appears to have numerous flashbacks and dark fantasies until it all becomes too much and our protagonist collapses, seemingly from the stress. We then learn that he was in fact being held prisoner and monitored in a series of false and fabricated realities for the past 15 years as part of secret government experiments on the human mind. One Line Sales Pitch: Everything is not what it seems Style (similar products and visual style): My work will be similar to the style of classic horror films such as Halloween and Ring in terms of production, it will be shot in rather low lighting, colour corrected to include more blue etc. I am using these techniques, as they stay faithful to the horror genre. In terms of the Thriller side of my work it will be similar to the work of Tarantino in the way that it will contain one if not more plot twists. My film also contains a nod to Oldboy with my prisoner being imprisoned for 15 years. I have also adapted a similar premise to the Matrix with the idea of a controlled false reality. Audience: My film is intended to scare and or evoke negative feelings within my viewers as well as thrill and excite them through subtle/subliminal methods and more obvious methods, therefore I am aiming my work at an older audience much who are more likely to be critical of a piece than a younger viewer meaning there is more pressure to create a good piece, also if my work is evoking negative emotions it is not going to be appropriate for viewing by a younger person, see other horrors such as: Saw, Hostel etc. Legal & Ethical Considerations: My work will use music as one of its main guiding methods however I will need to follow the Copyright Act/s as the majority of songs are protected by copyright and therefore I will need to attain permission to use certain songs. I will be using actors for my work meaning that there will be concerns about their safety and well being during production therefore I will need to take the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974 into consideration.

Working Title: Flash/BackGenre:My work will be a mix of two genres, which are Horror and Thriller both of which have been occasionally used together in the past.Specifically I will be creating a psychological Thriller and Horror piece as I will be dealing mainly with my protagonist’s mental state to both Thrill (plot twist) and scare (Mental struggles/fantasies) my audience.Synopsis / Treatment:An unnamed protagonist awakens in a small crammed and bare bedroom which at first seems normal however he then goes out into the world and realises nothing is how it should be to which a mental struggle against himself occurs leading him to question his own existence and the existence of others, during this he appears to have numerous flashbacks and dark fantasies until it all becomes too much and our protagonist collapses, seemingly from the stress. We then learn that he was in fact being held prisoner and monitored in a series of false and fabricated realities for the past 15 years as part of secret government experiments on the human mind. One Line Sales Pitch: Everything is not what it seems

Style (similar products and visual style):My work will be similar to the style of classic horror films such as Halloween and Ring in terms of production, it will be shot in rather low lighting, colour corrected to include more blue etc.I am using these techniques, as they stay faithful to the horror genre. In terms of the Thriller side of my work it will be similar to the work of Tarantino in the way that it will contain one if not more plot twists. My film also contains a nod to Oldboy with my prisoner being imprisoned for 15 years.I have also adapted a similar premise to the Matrix with the idea of a controlled false reality.Audience:My film is intended to scare and or evoke negative feelings within my viewers as well as thrill and excite them through subtle/subliminal methods and more obvious methods, therefore I am aiming my work at an older audience much who are more likely to be critical of a piece than a younger viewer meaning there is more pressure to create a good piece, also if my work is evoking negative emotions it is not going to be appropriate for viewing by a younger person, see other horrors such as: Saw, Hostel etc.Legal & Ethical Considerations:My work will use music as one of its main guiding methods however I will need to follow the Copyright Act/s as the majority of songs are protected by copyright and therefore I will need to attain permission to use certain songs.I will be using actors for my work meaning that there will be concerns about their safety and well being during production therefore I will need to take the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974 into consideration.Production Methods & Requirements [outline required techniques, resources and methods of production]:This film will appear to be shot using cctv cameras as though the subject is being supervised (foreshadowing), somewhat similar to the style of Paranormal Activity 2, however there will also be more cinematic shots mainly during the mental struggle scenes as if I were to film only using the cctv style it would get very boring incredibly quickly. The film will be shot in low lighting, preferably at night, in order to give an eerie appearance to the work as well as an aura of mystery, which will then be cleared in the final scenes that will be shot with moderate to high light. The jump cut is another technique I will utilize, for example when we see through the eyes of the protagonist’s imagination the jump cut will be used to show how the character is acting in “reality” and vice-versa in order to create a rather suspenseful feel as cutting between one somewhat passive sequences and one crowded in such little time makes for an exciting viewing experience, relating to both Thriller and Horror. In terms of resources I will require lights in order to ensure my shots are visible due to their low lighting style as well as a tripod in order to keep the camera stable and therefore create a more cctv-like appearance, I will be filming my piece using my Nikon D3300 DSLR camera and editing using Adobe Premier.I will use Adobe Premier for my editing and post-production and as mentioned earlier I will incorporate the use of jump cuts as well as colour correcting certain scenes/sequences.
