Music Video Proposal: Second Draft Band & track name: Jackal - Static (Get Out Of My House) Running Time: 2:99 Style of music video (relating to relevant theorists): Out of Lynch’s 3 proposed music video structures I tend to make a music video that fits into the concept category with no narrative and a small aspect of performance in the form of lip-syncing. From Gow’s theoretical perspective my music video will be an ‘anti- performance’ piece and a ‘special effects extravaganza’. The visual language and imagery conventions, suggested by Goodwin, that I will take into consideration are: a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals and music and visuals, a reference to voyeurism and inter-textual references. Also I might consider using the artist’s star iconography. Brief description of what will happen in the music video: A montage sequence of footage and photographs of various relevant imagery strictly edited in time to the music using. The footage and photographs will include that of city streets, countryside, the sea, the sky (night and day) and buildings. It will also be heavily edited with camera and visual effects. I will use editing effects such as fades, dissolves, change in opacity, colour balance etc. to deliver the montage style. The landscape, building and sky footage will be long shots and the images of people will be close-up and minimal, highlighting the lack of physical human production in electronic music. Close-up of a woman’s lips singing the lyrics will be the only performance of the video. Lyrics will also be written in frame, as they are sung. As well as lyrics appearing in frame I will include artist and album names and album art (Goodwin’s intertextual references). Much of the filming for my music video will be a result of opportunity filming because there is so much footage that needs to be collected. Test shoots and opinions on test footage:

Music Video Proposal: Second Draft

Band & track name:

Jackal - Static (Get Out Of My House)

Running Time:

2:99

Style of music video (relating to relevant theorists):

Out of Lynch’s 3 proposed music video structures I tend to make a music video that fits into the concept category with no narrative and a small aspect of performance in the form of lip-syncing. From Gow’s theoretical perspective my music video will be an ‘anti-performance’ piece and a ‘special effects extravaganza’.The visual language and imagery conventions, suggested by Goodwin, that I will take into consideration are: a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals and music and visuals, a reference to voyeurism and inter-textual references. Also I might consider using the artist’s star iconography.

Brief description of what will happen in the music video:

A montage sequence of footage and photographs of various relevant imagery strictly edited in time to the music using.
