Professor Susanna Leong is Vice Provost (Masters Programme & Lifelong Education) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). She is

responsible for initiatives and programmes on continuous education and training in NUS.

Prior to her current appointment, Susanna was the Vice-Dean, Graduate Studies Office, NUS Business School from 2008 to 2016, and had

oversight of the NUS MBA, EMBA and MPAM programmes.

Susanna is Professor in the Department of Strategy and Policy, NUS Business School. She is a graduate of the National University of Singapore

and University College London, a lawyer by training, and has been a faculty member of the NUS Business School since 1991.

Susanna teaches business related law modules such as contract, sale of goods and intellectual property to undergraduate and graduate

business students in English and Chinese. She has received several teaching awards including the Outstanding Educator Award (Department of

Strategy & Policy).

Susanna's research interests are in intellectual property and technology-related laws. She has published in international and local academic

journals. She is the author of “Intellectual Property Law of Singapore" published as part of the Law Practice Series by Academy Publishing.

Susanna’s legal writings have been cited and referred to by the Singapore Court of Appeal and the High Court in their judgments.

Susanna is an active contributor to the legal industry and is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. She is a Senior Fellow

at the Intellectual Property Academy of Singapore, a member of The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation

Centre’s Domain Name Panel, a member of The Regional Centre for Arbitration, Kuala Lumpur (RCAKL) Panel and a member of Asian Domain

Name Dispute Resolution Centre (Hong Kong). She is also a member of the Singapore Copyright Tribunal.

Dr Taizan Chan is the director of research and education analytics at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

He leads a team of data scientists and analysts to provide reporting, analytics, and analytical solutions to senior leaders

and other stakeholders at the university, across various domains, including research performance, HR, Finance, university

endowments, and admissions.

Prior to joining NUS in 2016, he was the academic director of learning and teaching, course coordinator, and senior

lecturer at the School of Information Systems at the Queensland University of Technology. He has published academic

papers in technology education, computer science, business and technology, and consulted for several large organizations

in software development and analytics.

Anne Pakir received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees, respectively, from NUS, UC Berkeley and University of Hawaii, Manoa and is with

the Department of English Language and Literature at NUS. She was Director of International Relations at NUS (2008-2017) and is currently

Associate Vice President, University and Global Relations. She was Vice President of the Asia Pacific Association for International Education

(APAIE, 2016-2018). A Fulbrighter at Berkeley and Cornell, she served as President of the Fulbright Association (Singapore) from 2008-2011 and

was a TOEFL Board Member (2005-2009). She was conferred The Ordre des Palmes académiques from the French Government and received the

Public Administration Medal from the Government of Singapore (2014). She is an Honorary Life Member of AILA, the International Association

for Applied Linguistics. Her primary research interest is in English-knowing bilingualism and World Englishes. She is currently working on a

Routledge book project, “English in Singapore: Global Competence and Local Realities”.

Teofilo Daquila teaches in the Department of Southeast Asian Studies (SEAD) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) since Dec 1995. He was

appointed Assistant Dean (FASS Undergraduate Studies) from Aug 2010 to Dec 2011, SEAD’s Acting Head in Sem 2 AY2011/12, Deputy Head in AY2012/13

and Assistant Head (AY2010/11 and Sem 1, AY2011/12). He has served as the Academic Coordinator of SEAD’s MA coursework program since 2000, and the

Joint MA Degree Program in SEA Studies between NUS and the Australian National University (ANU) since 2004. He has been appointed member of the

NUS General Education Committee and the Ministry of Education’s ‘A’-level History Syllabus Development Committee in 2013/14. As part of his outreach

activities, he was invited to speak about Southeast Asian economies and ASEAN economic regionalism in Singapore schools including Nanyang Girls’ High

School (NYGH), Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), and Raffles Institution Junior College. He also served as mentor to nine groups of students from

NYGH, Raffles Girls School, Raffles Institution and Dunman High School in their Humanities and Social Sciences Research Projects organised by the MOE’s

Gifted Education Programme and the FASS.

He held teaching appointments at the ANU, Deakin University, University of Melbourne, George Washington University, Chulalongkorn University, and Korea

University. He received visiting research fellowships/grants from the ANU, Nordic Institute for Asian Studies, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies & El

Colegio de Mexico, ASEAN University Network & the Korea Association for Southeast Asian Studies, Lee Foundation Singapore, and NUS. He teaches a

range of modules on the economies of and economic regionalism in Southeast Asia across different levels of study.

His research interests include international education, migration, economic development and regionalism, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. He

has been working on a research project entitled “Internationalising Higher Education in the Asia-Pacific: Australia, Japan and Singapore” using six universities

as case studies: ANU, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Kyoto and NUS. Some publications, some of which are listed below, have come out of this project

including conference presentations, book chapter, a journal article, and an introductory editorial for a special issue of the Journal of Studies in InternationalEducation.

He is a member of the editorial and advisory boards of the Korea Review of International Studies, and the International Studies Review, respectively. His

recent book publications include ‘The Economies of Southeast Asia: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand’ (New York, 2005), ‘Regionalism

and Multilateralism: ASEAN in the Global Economy’ (Manila, 2005), and ‘The Transformation of Southeast Asian Economies’ (New York, 2007; 2013 e-book).

Following his bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in engineering, A/P Daquila commenced his graduate studies at the University of the Philippines School of

Economics and obtained his M.A. degree (with Distinction) from the Katholieke Universiteitte te Leuven (Belgium). Subsequently, he completed his PhD in

economics at the Australian National University.

Professor S. Gopinathan obtained his doctorate in comparative higher education and education policy at SUNY, Buffalo, United States. He is

currently Adjunct Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. He served as the Dean of the School

of Education (Mar 1994 to Jun 2000) and was the former Dean of Initial Teacher Training (Jul 2000 to Jun 2003). In this role, he had responsibility

for departments involved in leadership preparation, early childhood and special needs education, and ICT. In 2003, he helped NIS establish a

Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice. He has served on various MOE review committees and was a Resource Specialist for the

Government Parliamentary Committee on Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board. Professor Gopinathan was also involved in setting up

the Singapore Centre for Teaching Thinking, the Principals Executive Centre and is also a founder member of the Educational Research

Association of Singapore. He has consulted widely, helping NIE establish the Emirates Centre for Advanced Education in Abu Dhabi, the College

of Education in Bahrain and the School of Education for the Sampoerna Foundation in Indonesia. He is presently Senior Advisor in the HEAD

Foundation, an education think tank. He is founding editor of the Singapore Journal of Education, serves on the International Advisory Board of

the Asia Pacific Journal of Education, and co-edits the Routledge Critical Studies in Asian Education.
