The Austral ian Construct ion IndustryForum (ACIF) is the meeting placefor leaders of the construct ionindustry in Austral ia . ACIF faci l i tatesand supports an act ive dialoguebetween the key players inresident ial and non-resident ialbui lding, engineering construct ion,other industry groups, andgovernment agencies.

ACIF provides a unique central forumfor leaders of the construct ionindustry to meet to discuss anyindustry issue, and act as centrall ia ison point for government andother organisat ions to meet with theAustral ian bui lding and construct ionindustry .

Together, ACIF ident i f ies industryissues and negotiates pol icy andadvocacy to encourage industryimprovement and increasedproductiv i ty . We work closely withgovernment and i ts agencies toprovide the industry with high levelstrategic focus.

We provide businesses withinformation and resources to planand improve their futures,strengthening our industry .

ACIF’S Agenda

ACIF seeks to develop a successful ,strong and sustainable construct ionindustry in Austral ia .

ACIF is focused on creat ing acompetit ive construct ion andproperty industry that is a leader inbui lding Austral ia ’s prosperity .

ACIF's Policy and Advocacy The Austral ian construct ion industryemploys just under 1 .2 mil l ionAustral ians, and in 2019-20 had aturnover of $232 bi l l ion.

Therefore, the construct ion industryis one of the main dr ivers of theAustral ian economy and i tsproductiv i ty and success is cr i t ical tothe growth and success of theAustral ian economy.

ACIF meets quarterly to ident i fy themost important issues on which tocreate pol ic ies, and then advocateson those issues. This assists ACIF'smembers and leads to increasedproductiv i ty and eff ic iencies in theindustry .

MEMBER ELIGIBILITYACIF

MEMBERSHIP FEESMembership  fees are based upon size and reach

of your organisation. Fees are per calendar year.

Reach is defined as how many people your organisation

directly affects.

For organisations with individual memberships,

this  would be equal to the number of memberships

current with your organisation.

For organisations with  company memberships,

this  would be the number of  staff in total working for

your member businesses.

Expectations of ACIF MembersACIF Members benefit most when they fully

participate at the quarterly face to face meetings and

working groups meeting via teleconference.

Members to provide:

Working GroupsSpecialist working groups are established fromtime  to time, to focus skills and resources tocomplete a specific piece of policy, research or otherstrategic  project. Working groups generally workremotely, convened by the chair of the working groupvia online meetings.

Strategic ForumACIF has partnered with its government counterpart,the Australasian Procurement and ConstructionCouncil (APCC) to focus government and industry onincreasing productivity and developing the processesand culture of the industry to maximise the benefitsfor all Australians.

Since 2014, this partnership has been known asStrategic Forum for the Australasian Building andConstruction Industry, and has produced a series ofguides and resources around project team integrationand building information modelling. In 2016, ACIF andAPCC created the Australasian BIM Advisory Board.

ACIF BoardACIF Members elect a Board from therepresentatives, to consist of a Chair, Deputy Chair,Treasurer and two other board members. The Chair ofACIF must be a practitioner, and this person chairs themeetings and can speak on behalf of ACIF onindustry issues.

ACIF FORECASTS

Since 2002, ACIF has published forecasts for the building andconstruction industry, to provide visibility over the marketconditions and support effective planning by businesses largeand small.

The ACIF Forecasts are the industry’s most comprehensiveforecasts, covering residential and non-residential buildingplus engineering construction. Twenty sub-categories of workare forecasted over ten years for work demand, constructioncosts and major projects, as well as labour requirements.

The ACIF Forecasts are produced in two formats, the AustralianConstruction Market Report and the Customised ForecastsDashboard.

The Customised Forecasts DashboardThe Customised Forecasts Dashboard is an online databasewhere subscribers can generate tailored forecasts to suit theirwork type, location and time period.

As a benefit of being an ACIF member, your organisation'smembers will have complimentary access to the CustomisedForecasts Dashboard, which has the retail value of $250+GSTper individual.

The Australian Construction Market ReportThis 100+ page report with detailed commentary, data andcharts on the economic drivers for our industry, and 10 yearforecasts for residential building, non-residential building andengineering construction. The Australian Construction MarketReport is released bi-annually and is available by subscription.

Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) isa professional standards body. Through itsleadership, standards and code of ethics, it ensuresthat practicing Quantity Surveyors are dedicated tomaintaining the highest standards of professionalexcellence.  AIQS is an organisation with chaptersand divisions in all states and territories. It also has astrong overseas membership and is the Australianpeak body to the International Cost EngineeringCouncil (ICEC) and Pacific Association of QuantitySurveyors (PAQS).
