Indians are more intellectual than most from the developed countries.India's student-age population is one of the largest in the world. The GrossEnrollment Ratio of India in higher education is targeted from existing 12%to 30%. But, there are serious gaps leading to the decrease of exposure tothe competent higher education systems. Ramesh Kanwar is the Distinguished Professor andChair of the Agricultural and BiosystemsEngineering Department (ABE) at Iowa StateUniversity. He received his B. Tech and M. Techdegrees from India and Ph.D. degree from IowaState University, USA. He joined the faculty of IowaState University as an Assistant Professor in 1983and was promoted to full professor in 1991. He hasworked as a consultant for the World Bank,European Commission, Global EnvironmentFacility, UNDP, USAID, NATO, FAO, and many foreigngovernments and universities. These globalopportunities have taken him to more than 50countries. He was awarded Doctorate HonorisCausa in 2007 by the Trakia University of Bulgariaand an Honorary Doctorate degree in 2000 by the Georgian Agrarian University in Tbilisi, Georgia.
