1 PROSPECTUS OF FACULTY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEGREE COLLEGE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, AUTONOMOUS COLLEGE, AMRAVATI (Maharashtra) INTRODUCTION Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, Amravati has been working in the field of physical education and recreation for the last 103 years. The Mandal has been successful in developing Indian system of exercise and games on modern scientific line and as a result has earned great popularity for them in the country and abroad. PROSPECTUS OF FACULTY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEGREE COLLEGE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, AUTONOMOUS COLLEGE, AMRAVATI (Maharashtra)

INTRODUCTION

Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal, Amravati has been working in the

field of physical education and recreation for the last 103 years. The Mandal is

registered under section 3 of Societies Registration Act 1860 (Act. No. XXI of 1860)

The institution was founded as an Akhara (Vyayam Shala) in 1914, by Vaidya

Brothers, Shri Anant Krishna and Ambadas Krishna Vaidya. It was their dream to

develop it into a full-fledge center for spreading Indian physical culture on national

and international level, which has now materialized as a result of dedicated efforts of

hundreds of its members. It has received national and international recognition as a

Premier Institute in the field of traditional physical culture, sports and youth welfare.

The Mandal in as early as 1924-25 initiated special course during summer

vacations for the outstation youths and for the In-service teachers. These classes and

the certificates awarded by the Mandal, in the course of time, were recognised and

considered as requisite qualification for the appointment as physical education

teachers in schools and colleges. The Mandal made pioneering effort in the

professional preparation during Pre-independence period. Thousands of youths from

all over India had taken benefit of this training. The popularity of these classes and the

growing demand for the supply of qualified teachers, leaders and organizers of

physical education encouraged the Mandal to step further in the direction by

establishing a regular training institute for physical education.

The Mandal has aimed at developing long term professional course with a

view to produce highly efficient and qualified physical education teachers for schools,

colleges and universities. Now, during the last decade the long cherished aim has been

fulfilled and at present the Mandal is proud of running professional courses leading to

graduate and Post graduate Degree and Diploma Courses in physical education and

allied sciences. Even research work at Post-Graduate and Ph.D. level is carried out in

the Mandal. Facilities in the form of library and research personnel required for

carrying out research work in physical education and allied sciences are made

available.

Similarly the Institution has been successful in developing a grand sports

complex in its premises. Well laid out play grounds for different games with flood-

light arrangement, standard cinder track of 400 Mts. International Standard

Swimming Pool, Indoor sports pavilion-cum gymnasium, Judo and Wrestling halls

and Badminton and Table-Tennis hall, Auditorium, Staff Council hall, Yoga Centre,

Physiotherapy Centre, Sports hostels, Seminar hall, sports library, well equipped

weight training hall, Research Laboratory are the facilities already developed by the

college for students, staff and community.

The Mandal established Degree College of Physical Education in the year

1967. It is co-educational and a residential college.

Location

The college is located in the premises of Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak

Mandal near Ambadevi Temple at Amravati (Maharashtra State). It is at a distance of

about one km. from Amravati Railway Station on the Central Railway. Candidates

coming to Amravati have to come first to Badnera Junction which is on Mumbai-

Kolkata railway route, on the Central Railway. Amravati is only 10 km. from

Badnera. Trains, Buses and Auto rickshaws ply between these two places almost

every time. Badnera comes under jurisdiction of Amravati Corporation.

Mission of the College

The college strives to nurture the student who could reflect the fusion of

traditional values with rational approach for the stronger young generation having

contemporary professional insight in the field of Physical Education and Sports

Sciences. College seeks to cultivate a sense of National Responsibility through its

efforts to develop Physical Education a base for the betterment of the future

generation. The inter dependence of sports and society, sports and healthy

environment have been very well acceptable throughout the world.

To fulfill this mission, Degree College of Physical Education intends to

produce excellent physical education teachers with commitment to profession.

Ultimately it should contribute for the upgradation of society and profession of

physical education and sports as a whole.

The Aims and Objectives of the College

i) To train students in physical education by providing teachers, Assistant

Professors and directors for secondary schools, colleges and universities.

ii) To prepare administrators and supervisors in physical education, who will be

able to conduct and organize programmes of physical education in all types of

institutions and organizations.

iii) To prepare research workers and academic leaders in physical education.

iv) To prepare and publish literature in the fields of Physical Education, Games and

Sports and Sports Sciences.

v) To run in-service training courses, refresher and orientation courses in physical

education and allied sciences.

vi) To organize professional Seminars, Conferences, Workshop and Clinics for the

exchange of professional experiences, information‟s and research outputs.

vii) To provide a platform for professionals for discussions, meetings and

professional transactions.

viii) To determine and prescribe its own courses of study, syllabi, restructure and

redesign the courses to suit local and regional needs.

ix) To prescribe rules for admission in consonance with the reservation policy of

the State Government.

x) To evolve methods of assessment of students‟ performance, the conduct of

examinations and notification of results.

xi) To use modern tools of educational technology to achieve higher standards and

greater creativity.

xii) To promote healthy practices such as community service, extension activities,

projects for the benefit of the society at large etc.

xiii) To promote inter-disciplinary research in the field of Physical Education, Yoga,

Sports Science, Ayurveda & traditional sports.

Autonomous Status of the college

Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University Amravati, has conferred the

Multi-faculty Autonomous Status to the college on the recommendations of

Government of Maharashtra and University Grant Commission, New Delhi under its

Xth plan Development Scheme of Autonomous colleges, from the session 2007-2008

to 2011-2012 for a duration of 5 years and the affiliating university has extended the

Autonomous status up to 2017 and UGC has given Ex-post facto approval upto 2017

and constituted committee for further extension and the Parent Univesity through its

letter No. SGBAU/8/1018-1282/2017 dated 18/07/2017 accorded extension from

2017-2018 to 2021-2022.

This is the only Autonomous college of physical education in India established

and run by private renowned organization known as Shree Hanuman Vyayam

Prasarak Mandal, Amravati.

This college is selected for recommendations to grant autonomy by U.G.C.,

New Delhi because it has its own National Status and its contribution to the

profession of Physical Education and Sports. The college is permanently affiliated to

S.G.B., Amravati University, Amravati and recognised by National Council for

Teacher Education, (N.C.T.E.), Western Region, Bhopal, All India council for

Technical Education (AICTE) and also by U.G.C., New Delhi under section 2(f), of

U.G.C. Act. The college is assessed and accredited in grade 'B' by National

Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore. Also the college has completed

50 years of successful functioning and achieved development in respect of its

infrastructure facilities and academic progress which brought the college as one of the

leading colleges of physical education in India. The college is Ranked 36th India by

MHRD through NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Frame Work) in the year

2016-2017.

II Innovative Programme A ] Career Orientation Programme

(UGC Sponsored)

The College provides vocational programme for undergraduate students under

the X plan scheme of UGC i.e. Career Oriented Programme. It offers Certificate,

Diploma and Advanced Diploma programme which is run parallel to conventional

BPES (Three Year). UGC has sanctioned the following courses under Career

Oriented Programme for B.P.E.S. Part-I from the academic year 2004-2005. This is

the only college in Maharashtra which is conducting the following career oriented

courses sponsored by U.G.C. New Delhi, for B.P.E.S. (Three Year) students only.

1. Health Club Management 2. Self Defence 3. Aerobics

Students can complete any one of these programmes along with regular their

study as one of the job oriented programme on payment of prescribed education and

examination Fee.

Examinations of these courses are conducted by the College and Certificate,

Diploma and Advanced Diploma be awarded by the college on completion of the

programme successfully in Ist year, 2nd year and 3rd year respectively along with their

regular study.

Benefits of Career Oriented Programme for B.P.E.S. (Three Year) Course Students 1) These courses are most useful for B.P.E.S. Students to start their own enterprises

or they can do the service. Career Oriented Course will solve unemployment

problem of young pupils and will also provide employment to other youths.

2) No separate Lodging and Boarding fee is required for Career Oriented Courses.

B] Twinning and Inter-disciplinary Programme

All the following twinning and inter-disciplinary programmes are conducted

by Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal and concerned authorities every year

during the summer vacation from 10th May to 10th June. Lodging and Boarding

facilities are available on payment and the college is also providing the professional

courses to the students during their course of study in off-time before or after the

daily teaching learning routine on all the working days for one hour duration.

Students have to pay the prescribed fees to concerned organizations and examination

boards of the courses which award the certificate to the successful candidates.

Students have the option to select any one activity from the following courses. These courses start every year from 16th August and end on 28th February.

This is a regular programme of three years duration leading to the Bachelor‟s

Degree in Physical Education and Sports.

ADMISSION: The qualifications for the admission to B.P.E.S First Year are as follows:

A) The First B.P.E.S candidate shall have :Passed the Pre-University OR 12th

standard Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher

In order to pass the examination, the examinee must obtain not less than

40% marks including the Sessional Assessment marks in each Theory papers and

50% marks in the external examination of the part-II and III at the semester B.P.E.S.

Examinations.

There shall be no division of successful examinees at the first five semester

B.P.E.S. Examinations. Successful examinees obtaining 60% or more marks in

aggregate for all the six semester B.P.E.S. Examinations taken together inclusive of

all the parts of the examination, namely-Theory, Skills and Practice Teaching shall be

placed in the First Division; those obtaining less than 60% but not less than 45% in

the Second Division and all other successful examinees in the Third division.

Successful examinees obtaining not less than 75% marks in a Paper of the

Theory Part of the Examination shall be declared to have passed the examination with

Distinction in that Theory Paper and those obtaining not less than 80% of the total

marks in Part-II or Part-III of the Examination shall be declared to have passed the

examination with Distinction in that Part.

Successful examinees at the B.P.E.S. Semester Examinations shall be entitled

to receive a Marks Sheet signed by the Chairman Examination Board and Controller

of Examination of the college and those successful at all six semesters the B.P.E.S.

Examination shall on payment of the prescribed fees, receive a Degree, in the

prescribed form of S.G.B. Amravati University, Amravati.

2. B.P.Ed. ( Two Year) Bachelor of Physical Education

This programme of two years duration leading to the Bachelor‟s Degree in

Physical Education. B.P.Ed. programme meant for preparing teachers for Physical

Education in classes VI- X and for conducting Physical Education and sports

activities to in classes XI-XII.

With a view to equip the teacher with modern methodology of teaching

theoretical and practical subjects in schools, the B.P.Ed. programme contents have

bifocal arrangement and a special subject named Educational Methodology is added

as a subject which enables the students to teach any one of class room subjects with

mastery.

This programme is recognized by NCTE and the State Govt. of Maharashtra

and those possessing B.P.Ed. (2 Year) degree will be considered eligible for the

appointment as trained teachers in Secondary schools throughout India.

Qualification for admission

Qualification for admission to the Examination for Degree of B.P.Ed.

(two year) programme are as follows:-

a) Bachelor‟s degree in any discipline with 50% marks and having at least

participation in the Inter –College / Inter-Zonal / District / School competition in

sports and games as recognized by the AIU / IOA/SGFI/Govt. of India

OR

b) Bachelor‟s degree in physical education with 45% marks.

OR

c) Bachelor‟s degree in any discipline with 45% marks and studied physical

education as compulsory / elective subject.

OR

d) Bachelor‟s degree with 45% marks and having participated in National / Inter

University/ State competition or secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in Inter-

3. M.P.Ed. (Two Year Programme) Master of Physical Education

This Post-graduate programme of two years duration has been started by the

college in the year 1973-74. The Examinations of this programme shall be conducted

by this College and the successful candidates shall be awarded Master‟s degree in

Physical Education in the prescribed form of S.G.B. Amravati University, Amravati.

The purpose of introducing this course is to promote higher leadership in

physical education. Those possessing this degree will be qualified to be appointed in

the service of State Government at higher administrative posts like Director and Dy.

Director of Sports. State Inspector of Physical education and District Sports Officer

etc. and lecturers in physical Education and Director of Sports or Sports officers in the

Universities and Colleges.

Thus, there is vast scope of employment for those possessing the M.P.Ed.

degree.

S.G.B. AMRAVATI UNIVERSITY has also made provision for registration

of candidates possessing M.P.Ed. Degree for Ph.D. in Physical education. The college

offers research facilities and Fellowship to the deserving students for the prosecution

of their higher studies and research work.

Examination Leading to the Degree of Master of Physical Education

1. The following shall be the examinations leading to the Degree of Master of Physical Education, (M.P.Ed) semester pattern

2. The duration of the course shall be of two academic years with the M.P.Ed. Previous examination with semester I and II and the M.P.Ed. Final examination with semester III and IV.

3. The examination for previous and final year shall be held Twice in a year. And for IV semester there shall be instant examination after 30 days from the declaration of results for the failures in the IV Semester.

4. The Eligibility :

a) Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) or equivalent with at least 50% marks. OR

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Health and Physical Education with at least 50% marks.

b) The reservation in seats and relaxation in the qualifying marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD and other categories shall be as per the rules of the Central Government / State Government whichever is applicable.

Rules of Dissertation

1. A candidate admitted to MPEd Final Semester III with minimum 55% marks in

aggregate in Semester I and II and has passed both previous semester examination can

opt the dissertation in lieu of Paper 15 MPED 211 of VIth Semester. He / She should

submit a synopsis as per the guidelines given in prospectus of M.P.Ed. the Head of

the Department for the consideration before 15th September of the academic year.

2. The Research Committee approved by Academic Council shall meet in the third

week of September of the Calendar year to finalize and approve the topics of

dissertation.

3. The Research Committee may prescribe to communicate conditions as it may

deemed fit and the candidate shall comply with conditions.

4. The candidate shall conduct research in his/her subject of dissertation for one

academic year and submit his / her dissertation to the Head of the Department

upto 10th April or within five months from the date of approval of the subjects.

The HOD will submit it to Controller of Examination in the third week of April of

the session.

5. If the candidate finds that he/she cannot submit the dissertation by the date, he/she

shall apply for extension of time to the Head of the Department.

6. The dissertation shall be submitted through the supervisor of the candidate to the

HOD [printed or Type Written] in Five copies.

7. A candidate shall submit with his/her dissertation a certificate from his/her

supervisor to the effect :-

i] That the candidate has satisfactorily conducted research for not less than one

academic session.

ii] That the dissertation is the result of the candidate‟s own work and is of a

sufficiently high standard to warrant its presentation for examination.

iii] That it is satisfactory in respect of literary presentation.

8. The candidate may write his/her dissertation in any of the three languages

viz English, Hindi or Marathi opted as medium for examination.

9. The scope of the subjects shall be as indicated in the Syllabus.

PASSING THE EXAMINATION

An examinee shall obtain not less than 40% of marks prescribed in each paper

and not less than 50% marks in each part of the practical. In order to be successful at

the semester examinations.

DISTINCTION AND DIVISION a) Successful examinees obtaining 60% or more marks in aggregate of the

examination as a whole, inclusive of all parts of the examination, namely theory,

skill, practice teaching, practicals, projects and seminar etc. shall be placed in First

Division.

b) Those obtaining less than 60% but not less than 50% shall be placed in second

division.

c) All other successful examinees shall be placed in Third Division.

d) All successful examinees obtaining 75% and above in theory and 80% and above

in practicals including internal assessment shall be treated as passed with

distinction but it will not be indicated separately on the statement of marks.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION B.P.E.S. (3 Years)

Application for Admission

Application in prescribed form attached to the Prospectus which can be

obtained from Principal, Degree College of Physical Education, Amravati on Payment

of Rs. 200=00 through Money Order. The Application Form along with Physical

Fitness Certificate from a Regd. Medical practitioner and the identification card must

reach the Principal by Regd. Post on or before 14th July of the year Identification card

is attached at the end in the prospectus itself. Admission fee is payable on selection.

Application for Admission through website: All the information regarding the

college is available on internet web site www.dcpehvpm.org. The eligible candidates

may forward their application through the internet, but they should also download the

application form and fill and send it through post along with a D.D. of Rs. 200/- upto

14th July.

General Eligibility for Admission

Men and Women candidates from all over India and abroad who are

physically fit and know Rashtra bhasha (Hindi), Marathi or English are eligible for

admission. Preference will be given to person deputed by various institutions and

organizations and also those who possess proficiency in indigenous activities, games,

athletics, gymnastics, scout and guide, N.C.C. or Home Guards. They must come

prepared, to undergo a strenuous course of training. The candidates will be called for

interview / counseling. Applicants should attend the interview organized at Amravati

as per admission process given below:

Admission Process for Every New Academic Session. Following process will be adopted to admit in the course of Physical Education and

Yogic Sciences for those satisfying the eligibility criteria of Admission.

1. This prospectus contains application form, medical fitness form, physical / motor

fitness form and relevant information about the fees structure, scholarships,

hostels and other facilities.

2. Candidates desiring to seek admission should submit the application form duly

filled in with necessary information along with (i) attested copies of Educational

certificates Degrees and related marks sheets, Games and Sports participation and

achievement certificates and other Educational certificates (ii) The medical fitness

certificate duly signed by the Registered Medical Practitioner (iii) Physical or

Motor Fitness form filled with preliminary information.

3. For the benefit of the students the college has established counseling centres at

various places of India to provide General information and information about

process of admission to the students. The eligible candidates can submit their

application forms with required documents at the counseling centre nearer to their

home town on the prescribed dates.

4. Last date for submitting the form with above enclosures is 14th July. Candidates

submitting their forms on or before 14th July should without waiting for call letter,

report at Amravati in the college for completing process of admission as per

programme..

5. The candidate should remain present for Entrance Test organised in Physical /

Motor Fitness Test / Written Test, Personal Interview and verification of original

B.P.E.S. Part -I Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports ( Three Years)

A Physical / Motor Fitness Test on 15th and 16th July on the Track and field of

the College in proper Sports Kit.

B Personal Interview and Verification of Certificates will be conducted from

17th and 18th July

M.P.Ed. Previous ( Master of Physical Education) ( Two Year) A Students seeking admission to this course should apply from 18th April to

18th May 2018 and attend the online examination on 11th June 2018. Physical

Fitness test will conducted on 12th and 13th June 2018 on the Track and Field

of the college in proper sports kit.

B.P.Ed. Bachelor of Physical Education (Two Year) A Students seeking admission to this course should apply from 10th April to

10th May 2018 and attend the online examination on 1st .June 2018. Physical

Fitness Test will be conducted on 2nd and 3rd June 2018 on the Track & Field

of the College in proper Sports Kit.

6. COMMON ENTRANCE TEST

CET will be conducted for all courses as following contents:-

I B.P.E.S. Semester - I

A Physical / Motor fitness includes 100 mt. run, Standing Broad Jump, Shot-Put,

200/800 Mts. Run.(200 Mt. For Women and 800 Mtr. For men). Sit-ups / Dips

/ Push-ups for 5 Marks each and total 25 Marks.

B Personal Interview related with the candidates Attitude, Aptitude, Mental

Ability, General Knowledge in Current Affairs will be conducted for

10 marks. Common assessment will be made by the interviewers.

Note : Verification of Educational, Games, Sports and other Certificates.

Verification and assessment will be done as per the given conversion chart for 40 marks.

7. Candidates who have passed CET organised by Government for BPEd and

MPEd are eligible for admission.

At the time of admission all the original certificates of qualifications, Sports achievements mark sheets, School/college leaving certificate, character certificate and migration certificate are essential to submit at the office.

Admission Preference

The students possessing outstanding sports performance and having

participated in National or Inter University competitions would be given first

preference in admission to BPES course. But applicant must fulfill the minimum

required qualifications for admission recommended by National Council for Teacher

Education and the University. The Students who win the medals at Intervarsity

competitions during their studies in this college, would get

Rs. 2000 as Scholarship for the session. In addition they would also get opportunity

for higher education.

Migration Certificate

It is compulsory that students coming from other Universities & Boards have

to submit their Migration Certificates positively before 29th September. After this

date each student will have to pay Rs. 110/- as late migration fee. Students will not be

allowed to appear at the annual examination if they fail to submit their migration with

late fee upto December end. Foreign University immigration fee is Rs.3000/-

Health and Medical Examination

A super abundance of energy and vitality are essential for this course.

A pleasing personality and commanding physique are extra qualifications. Unsocial,

frail person should not enter this profession. A certificate of Medical Fitness, in the

prescribed form from a Registered Medical Practitioner should be submitted along

with the application.

Medium of Instruction :

For all courses except M.P.Ed. the medium of instruction will be English

/Hindi /Marathi as per the option by the students. For M.P.Ed. course medium of

instruction will be Hindi /English. There is option for selecting English / Hindi /

Marathi medium for examination.

Class Attendance

Eighty percent attendance in Theoretical and Practical classes is required

except on medical grounds which may be condoned by the authority in exceptional

case on furnishing satisfactory reason for the absence from college for appearing in

annual exams. Fine is imposed on students for absence without permission.

Text Books

In order to help the students in their academic studies, the college has made

some text books available to them on discount. The books will be distributed through

college co-operative store on payment of the required amount.

Terms

The session starts from 1st July and is divided into two terms one from

1st July to Diwali Vacation and second after the termination of Diwali vacation to the

first week of May.

Working hours

Daily working hours are adjusted according to climatic season and

convenience. However, the college works in two shifts morning and evening for a

total of about 8 hours a day.

Process of Payment of fees:

The fees can be paid on the name of the Principal, Degree College of Physical

Education, Amravati by Demand Draft payable at Amravati OR can be deposited in

cash at the fees Collection Counter of the Co-operative bank of the college. First

Semester fee will be collected at the beginning of semesters. Failing to pay the fees

within time, the students will have to pay fees with fine.

Uniform

College has uniform for all students, which will be available at the Vidyarthi

Sahakari Upbhokta Bhandar Ltd. (Co-operative Store) of the college. Students will

have to pay required amount in the Co-operative store at the time of admission to

secure their uniform as follows.

Hostel Accommodation

The college has its own hostels separately for both men and women which are

supervised by efficient and capable wardens.

For nearly 1500 students including 300 girls from every nook and corner of

the country take admission. The college possesses 10 spacious hostels. In addition to

that staff quarters have also been constructed by the College with the financial

assistance from University Grants Commission.

The student once having taken admission in the hostel cannot leave it in the

middle of the session without sufficient and satisfactory reasons, in such case students

will have to pay full hostel fee of the whole session. It is compulsory for students

residing in hostel to take their meals in the mess.

Mess

The vegetarian mess is run by the students on cooperative basis under the

supervision of staff members. Nutritious and wholesome food, Vegetarian only,

adequate to meet the requirements of strenuous physical activities is served. The mess

charges of approximately Rs. 2200/- according to fluctuation in market prices will be

taken in advance every month and extra mess maintenance charges of Rs. 1000 will

be taken in advance every year.

Taking meals in mess is compulsory, for that the students have to pay mess

fees before 15th of every month in advance.

Canteen

Canteen facilities is also available in the college campus. Break fast, Tea,

Coffee, Snacks can be taken on cash payment.

CAMPS AND TOURS

Leadership Training Camp

Leadership training camp is being held every year for B.P.E.S. Part-I &

B.P.Ed. Students. An out-door camp is conducted every year in which the students are

given training in scouting and jungle crafts, health and hygiene, community work,

trekking, path finding, hiking etc. without attending this, they may not be allowed to

appear for the Final Examination. The camp is compulsory and marks have been

allotted for this purpose which are included in the final examination marks.

N.S.S.

Amravati University has granted a unit of NSS in the year 1997 for 200

students ( 120 Boys & 80 Girls). Every year selected students are actively

participating in NSS programme and taking the advantage of this scheme for the

development of their personality. The college has received best NSS unit award from

SGB Amravati University in the year 2010-11.

Coaching Camps: The Coaching Camps are organised for all programmes. NCC: Maharashtra NCC 8 battalion has sanctioned a unit of NCC for 60 students.

Every year boys and girls students join the NCC and take the advantage of the

programme and participate in the activities of NCC.

Scout and Guide:

Maharashtra Scout and Guide unit was sanctioned for college level in 1990 for

boys and girls. This unit conducts Camps, Adventure Tours and Training Courses.

Educational and Demonstration Tour

In order to create mass consciousness about physical activities and sports, the

tours of teams consisting of 250 - 300 young boys and girls to various parts of India

visiting important towns and cities have been arranged by the Mandal since 1928. So

far the Mandal has undertaken 45 such tours and visited 150 towns and cities of

various States in which demonstrations were staged in traditional Indian sports and

physical activities and were witnessed by millions. Such demonstration cum

educational tour, if organized in this ensuing academic session, the students will be

given opportunity to participate in the tour on selective basis. For M.P.Ed. students

one educational tour is mandatory during their course.

Participation in the Functions and Activities of Shree Hanuman Vyayam

Prasarak Mandal:

Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal was established in the year 1914 by

two Vaidya Brothers with an aim of popularizing the Indian System of Physical

Education in the country and the world as well. Since its establishment the Mandal

has been striving to render invaluable service to the cause of Physical Education and

Sports and National awakening. H.V.P. Mandal being the parent institution, all the

students and the members of staff are given opportunity to participate in all functions

and activities of the Mandal which are held from time to time.

Important Functions

The students of the Degree College of Physical Education and H.V.P. Mandal

give combined demonstration of various kinds of physical activities every year on the

occasion of Dassera Festival and the annual function which is generally held in the

month of January every year.

Local Sports and Tournaments

As a part of the training programme, students are also given opportunities to

conduct and assist in organization of games and sports tournaments which are held in

Amravati district from time to time. The student players can also participate in local

tournaments.

Holidays

Holidays will be kept to a minimum, Students on such days may organize

recreational functions and programmes. The students are given Diwali vacation of

about 3 to 4 weeks.

SCHOLARSHIPS, FREESHIPS & FEES CONCESSIONS

Government of India Post-Matric Scholarship to other State Students

The scheme of Grant of Govt. of India Scholarships to the Backward Class

students as well as Lower Income Group students for B.P.E.S. course is being

implemented by the Directors of Education of their respective states every year. The

application forms of the said scholarships will be available with the Director of

Education of the respective state. The last date for submitting such form is

31st August.

Govt. of India Post-Matric Scholarships to the B.C. Students

The scheme of grant of Government of India scholarships to the Backward

class student ( S.C. / S.T. / N.T. / D.N.T. & Nava Budha ) of Maharashtra for B.P.E.S.

course is implemented by Director of social Welfare, M.S. (Pune). All the Backward

Class students undertaking approved post S.S.C. course are considered eligible for the

Govt. of India Scholarship with the following exceptions.

Conditions of Eligibility

1. The student switching over to another professional course in one line

viz L.L.B. After B.T./B.Ed./B.E. after L.L.B. will not be held eligible.

2. The students failing in the annual examination are not considered eligible for

the Scholarship, One failure is however, condoned in respect of SC and ST

student pursuing Medical and Engineering course.

Procedure for submission of application for G.O.I. Scholarship

All Backward class students and the students coming under the lower income

group from Maharashtra should apply for the Govt. of India scholarships in the

prescribed form through their college in the month of July/August. The application

forms will be made available to them at the time of their admission. All the students

should be vigilant enough to fill in the form complete in all respects as any omission

or incorrect, false information is apt to disqualify them for the above scholarship. The

student having gap in their education should invariably file court affidavit declaring as

to what they were doing during the intervening period.

We have 22 class rooms and 2 Lecture Halls specially made available

for organization of regular classes, Clinics, speeches, meetings, seminars and

conferences.

Audio-visual aids in the form of LCD Projector, Multi Media Projector,

Epidiascope, Micro Fitch reader, Over-head Projector, Slide-Projector,

Computer, etc. Sports Models special CD‟s and cassettes and charts are used

for teaching skills.

v] Library

A well equipped library with 29642 books, 36 current journals,

e-journals and database NLIST and Digital library network covering different

aspects of physical education, health, recreation, nutrition, sports and allied

sciences is used by the students, and staff, Research journals, thesis and

published professional literature, research quarterly etc. are made available to

the post graduate students and research scholars. About 1739 theses of Master

and Ph.D. level including those of American Universities are available in

micro fitch cards for which Micro-fitch reader is also in the stock of the

library. The Internet, Computer and Zerox facilities are provided minimum

cost to the students.

Vi] Research Development

It is very difficult to imagine our modern society without a well-

developed education system. The need for research in the field of education is

now a matter of great urgency. The process of research in education for peace

and development can help to strengthen, the whole global society and bring

out a more reliable and acceptable solution. Hence research has become an

integral part, not only in academic pursuits, but in all the areas of human

activity. Our Institution has established a scientific laboratory duly recognized

by the university for the promotion of research work in the field of Physical

Education and sports. Research council consists of senior teachers who

motivate other faculty members to undertake research projects in different

disciplines. Research works are done at the P.G. and Ph.D. level in different

areas like laboratory oriented, library oriented projects and field work. Our

college also provides internet services to the Research scholars for easy access

to latest information and ready references. Some of the senior faculty members

are approved guide for the Ph.D. Degree, and at present 20 scholars are

working under their guidance.

Vii] Laboratories

Modern Research Laboratories for M.P.Ed., M.Phil, and Ph.D. Scholar

is available in the college also separate laboratory or PGDYT, DYEd and

M.A. Yoga is established.

(B) Sports Facilities

i] Gymnasium

The College possesses a Gymnasia of 75‟ x 120‟ and 65‟ x 45‟

respectively.

The Gymnasium is equipped with modern gymnastics equipment along

with other indoor games and activities. It provides space for Ground

Gymnastics, Balancing Beam, Uneven bar, Parallel bar, Vaulting Horse,

Roman Rings, Pommelled Horse & Horizontal bar. It has also galleries to

accommodate 3000 spectators.

ii] Swimming Pool

The College possesses Olympic Type Swimming Pool. It measures

50 mts. x 21 mts. with an additional area of 21 mts. x 13 mts. for diving

purpose. It bears „L‟ shape, College also possesses short course swimming

pool of standard size of 25x21 mtrs. for practice. In the same area there is one

additional swimming pool for learners. In total there are 3 swimming pools.

iii] Open Stadium

A stadium worth Rs.2 crores, which can accommodate 15,000

spectators. Other facilities available at this stadium are as below : a) Cinder

Track- around b) Conference Hall c) Judo Hall d) Wrestling Hall and many

residential rooms with sanitation arrangements.

iv] Indoor Stadium

Netaji Subhashchandra Bose Indoor Stadium is Oval shaped and with

wooden floor, lighting facilities for Four Badminton courts, special

arrangement of light to conduct activities like Table Tennis. Basket ball and

Volley ball is also available It has stairs for 3 thousand spectators seating

capacity.

Indoor Stadium - 2

The new Indoor stadium is oval shaped and with synthetic floor for kabaddi, Taekwondo and boxing facility.

v] Running Tracks

There are two 400 mts. Cinder Tracks with the college to run the

athletic activities of different courses at the same time.

vi] Play Grounds

The College have 100 acres land on which different play grounds and

courts have been laid out. This includes 4 cemented Basket Ball Courts, 1

Football court, 1 Hockey court, 2 Cricket Pitches, 3 Volleyball courts, Two

Tennis courts, 4 Kabaddi courts, 3 Kho-Kho courts, Two Handball courts and

facilities of one court each for Korfball, Netball, Soft ball, Ball Badminton are

available. Also there is arrangement of Archery Range.

vii] Sports Equipments

Quality equipments for all games and sports in adequate quantity are

available to meet the need of students strength. Judo and Wrestling Mats,

Weight lifting sets, Gymnastics equipments, Standard Athletics equipments

are also available to the students.

viii] Publication Department

This College has its own publication Wing. Magazines in the subjects

like Physical Education, Sports Medicine, Movement Education & Yoga are

being published. Many books useful for College students are published by the

Department.

ix] Computer Centre

The well equipped Sports Research Laboratory is now supported with

Computer Centre. The purpose is to help and guide the Research Students and

scholars of Post-graduate Department in application of statistical analysis of

their Research and Project Work. Another use of it is now planned for

Computer Aided Instructions and Information Brochure which includes Meet

Records and Events that have taken place in the history of sports. And

it will be made available to the players and sports personalities. Internet

facility is also open to students.

x] Yoga & Nature Cure Centre

Yoga & Nature Cure Centre is established in the campus of the Mandal

and at a Hill-station, Chikhaldara. Indoor and Out door patients are

diagnosed and treated at Nature Cure Centre Hospital is also attached to

Vidarbha Ayurved Hospital, Dhanwantary Nagar, Amravati.

xi] Health Centre

There is a Modern Health Centre. It is utilized for training and exercise

of athletes. The centre is equipped with total 40 equipments prominently

inclusive of Sauna Bath, Steam Bath, Walker, Trimmer, 12 Station Multi

Trainer, Weight Training Apparatus etc.

For Indian style of wrestling and traditional system of exercise the

Akhada is maintained by the institution.

xiii] Band Department

College has separate Band Department with all Band Instruments

required for Action Song, Group Song, National Anthem, Rhythmics etc.

There is also separate Band Stand on which interested students are given Band

Training daily in the morning and evening, many experts in different

instruments and activities guide and train them. Hundreds of students are

taking benefits of the same.

xiv] Physiotherapy Centre

This centre is well equipped with modern therapeutic facilities like.

Parafin Wax Bath, Short Wave Diathermy, Micro Wave Diathermy, Moist

Heat Therapy Unit, Inter Frential Therapy Unit, Timpac Muscle Stimulator,

Ultraviolet Lamp, Infra Red Lamp, Ultrasound Therapy, Foot Massager,

(C) OTHER FACILITIES

The college has created following facilities from the students welfare point of view

1. The college runs the scheme of Student Aid Fund which is helping needy and

prospective students financially in their studies.

2. The college has also established a consumer Co-operative Store to sell the goods

of daily use at concessional rates to the students.

3. The college has established a student service centre in the campus to provide all

kinds of online services to the students.

4. Bank of Maharashtra has installed an ATM in the campus.

5. The Mandal has also in its campus a Dairy Unit which is supplying fresh and

pure milk to students at moderate rate.

6. Sports Equipment Store is run in the premises of the Mandal which provides

quality sports equipments to the students and staff at cheaper rates.

7. The college has established the Students Guidance, Employment cells, Alumni

office, and Counseling Bureau to make students aware of employment

opportunities.

8. Govt. has opened Hanuman Vyayam Nagar Post Office in our college campus.

9. Nagri Sahakari Pat Sanstha is providing banking service to the students.

10. The college constructed Mess Building in the campus in which 500 students can

have meal at a time.

11. College has independent Hostels for Men & Women.

12. Canteen facility is also available for Snacks, Tea, Coffee & Refreshment.

13. There is a Dispensary in the college campus to treat the sick & injured students.

Medical Officers are posted in the dispensary to look after the health problems of

both boys and girls. Emergency Medical assistance is provided to the sportsmen

involved in accident or on getting injured on the playfield.

So also minor Operations and all kinds of Pathological Tests are carried out at

H.V.P. Mandal‟s “Ayurvedic Hospital” at nominal charges.

(D) BEHAVIOR AND CONDUCT

For reasons of unsatisfactory conduct and behavior, candidates will be

removed from the college any time by the authority. It is therefore absolutely essential

that students must maintain good discipline and conduct by themselves well in every

sphere of activities inside and outside the college premises.

RULES AND DISCIPLINE PRINCIPAL HAS THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THE ADMISSION OF

STUDENTS ( BOYS & GIRLS) FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS.

i) Not paying college dues in time.

ii) The qualifying examination passed by candidate from other Universities

/Bodies/Boards is not found to be equivalent to the parent University of the

college.

iii) Characterless and indiscipline behavior.

iv) If found not eligible for enrolment as per Rules.

v) Absence for a long period without any proper reason.

2. RAGGING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN THE COLLEGE. IF ANY

STUDENT IS FOUND GUILTY THEN HE / SHE WILL BE PUNISHED

AS PER THE UGC REGULATIONS ON CURBING THE MENACE OF

RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS, 2009.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS

1. Respect for the faculty – Students must respect all the faculty members. 2. Punctuality - Every student must be scrupulously punctual in their work.

Punctuality should be so developed as to become almost instinctive. 3. Courtesy - Every student must treat their co-students with courtesy and tolerance. 4. Health & Hygiene - Observance of hygiene is treated as a part of discipline.

Consumption of Wine and Smoking is Strictly Prohibited. 5. Use of filthy or abusive language even in private conversation is positively

harmful to character building and as such will be breach of discipline. 6. Every student must implicitly obey the orders of his superiors. Obedience first

should be the motto. 7. A genuine grievance should be brought to the notice of the Principal but only

through the Class teacher / House Advisor or Hostel Warden. 8. Patriotism and Service of the motherland will be the only creed. 9. Students are not allowed to take part in local politics. 10. Communalism in any form is strictly forbidden.

11. Overlooking indiscipline on the part of the co-students is as serious as actual breach of discipline. Indiscipline must be reported to the teachers concerned or the principal immediately in every case.

12. Faultless gait, neat and tidy clothing, proper maintenance of equipments and smart behavior are essential components of an ideal discipline of a student.

PLACEMENT CELL

Shree H.V.P. Mandal‟s Degree College of Physical Education from its

inception in 1967, strived for excellence and succeeded in achieving a status in

the field of Physical Education. Its Alumni are working in various capacities on

sports Bodies throughout India. Alumni get recruitment by DCPE's name itself.

Many of the states are deputing their candidates for undergoing teachers

training courses. And after the completion of the course they were employed by

their respective governments. Now the scenario has been changed, there is

competition for employment. Hence the college has developed an employment

cell. The employment cell is functioning efficiently since its beginning and

assisting the needy pupils. The employment cell is carefully going through the

employment news in almost all the available news papers and locating the

possible job opportunities at various places in India. And information regarding

the same is given to the suitable candidates accordingly.

In the year 2017-2018 have Conducted campus Interview and selected

Forty two candidates.

We are planning to rope-in various private and public organizations to

have their campus interview in our premises to provide them promising

candidates for higher education and employment in their Institutions.

For this purpose we are trying to get in touch with them by using various
