Safety Regulati ons ISO StandardISO 4414- § 5.4.5.11.1 states:

"When failure of a hose assembly or plas�cpiping cons�tutes whiplash hazard, it shallbe restrained or shielded by suitable meansand/or an air fuse for compressed air shall be mounted".

MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administrati on) Regulati ons30 CFR Secti ons §56.13021 and 57.13021 High-pressure hose connecti on states:

"Except where automa�c shut-off valvesare used. Safety chains or other suitablelockingdevicesshallbeusedatconnec�onstomachines of high pressure hose line of ¾"inside diameter or larger, and between highpressure hose lines ¾" inside diameter orlarger,whereaconnec�onfailurewouldcreateahazard".

30 CFR secti ons §57.1730 Compressed air; general: compressed air systems states:

The HoseGuard offers simple but efficientprotec�on to pneuma�c systems in the eventof a broken compressed air hose or pipe.The air supply is immediately shut off by theHoseGuard,shouldthevolumeofairexceedasetvalue.This"value"isfactorypresetandissettoallownormalairconsump�onwhenusingairtools.

Should the air consump�on exceed the setvalue, e.g. the air line is severed, then theinternalpistoninstantlyshutsoffthemainflow.An integral bleed hole allows some air toflow though.Thisenables the linepressure toautoma�cally reset the HoseGuard once themainbreakisrepaired.

The SaveAir™ regulator is an independentmembrane regulator that can be installedin every compressed air system. It supplies aconstant, exact outlet pressure regardless oftheinputpressure.Thepressureisfactory-setandcannotbechanged.

SaveAir™ prevents “dynamic pressurewaste“. This arises when the pressure andflowatthewithdrawalpointareunnecessarilyhigher than those specified by themanufacturer to achieve the desiredfunc�on. “Dynamic pressure waste” isextremely costly, awasteof energy thatmaybefoundthroughoutindustry.

The ToolReg™ regulator is an independentpiston regulator that can be mounted onany pneuma�c tool or installed in everycompressed air system. It supplies aconstant, exact outlet pressure regardless ofthe inletpressure.Thepressure is factory-setand cannot be changed. The ToolReg™prevents “dynamic pressure waste“. Thisarises when the pressure and flow at thewithdrawalpointareunnecessarilyhigherthanthosespecifiedbythemanufacturertoachievethedesiredfunc�on.“Dynamicpressurewaste”isextremelycostly,awasteofenergythatmaybefoundthroughoutindustry.

For pneuma�c tools the ToolReg™ must bemounted directly on the tool in order toensurecorrectpressure,sothatpossiblepres-suredropsinhoses,tubesetc.donotinfluence

the pressure on the tool itself. Furthermore,the residual pressure in the tool is relievedwhen it is removed from the compressed airsupplyline,preven�nguninten�onalactua�onofthetoolwithdisastrousconsequences.

Pre-set regulators are an economical path to achieve the ideal pressure in the tool (please regard to page 6 “Worth knowing”).

The use of lead-free materials is growing in importance – in parti cular as an alternati ve material for drinking water applicati ons, where health standards are high. As an alternati ve material to conventi onal brass, Protect-Air off ers a fl uid regulator made of a lead-free brass material – Ecobrass® (trade name CUPHIN).*
