Safety Regulati ons ISO StandardISO 4414- § 5.4.5.11.1 states:

"When failure of a hose assembly or plas�cpiping cons�tutes whiplash hazard, it shallbe restrained or shielded by suitable meansand/or an air fuse for compressed air shall be mounted".

MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administrati on) Regulati ons30 CFR Secti ons §56.13021 and 57.13021 High-pressure hose connecti on states:

"Except where automa�c shut-off valvesare used. Safety chains or other suitablelockingdevicesshallbeusedatconnec�onstomachines of high pressure hose line of ¾"inside diameter or larger, and between highpressure hose lines ¾" inside diameter orlarger,whereaconnec�onfailurewouldcreateahazard".

30 CFR secti ons §57.1730 Compressed air; general: compressed air systems states:

(e) "Safety chains, suitable locking devices,or automa�c cut-off valves shall be used atconnec�ons to machines of high pressurehoselinesof¾"insidediameterorlarger,andbetweenhighpressurehoselinesof¾"insidediameter or larger, where a connec�on fail-urewouldcreateahazard.Forpurposeofthisparagraph, high pressure means pressure of100psiormore.’’

The HoseGuard offers simple but efficientprotec�on to pneuma�c systems in the eventof a broken compressed air hose or pipe.The air supply is immediately shut off by theHoseGuard,shouldthevolumeofairexceedasetvalue.This"value"isfactorypresetandissettoallownormalairconsump�onwhenusingairtools.

Should the air consump�on exceed the setvalue, e.g. the air line is severed, then theinternalpistoninstantlyshutsoffthemainflow.An integral bleed hole allows some air toflow though.Thisenables the linepressure toautoma�cally reset the HoseGuard once themainbreakisrepaired.

All the following measurement values (fl ow for closing functi on) apply for a HoseGuard® (hose breakagesafetydevice)chargedwiththeappropriatepressureP1andwithafreePaoutlet.If a component is fi tt ed aft er the HoseGuard® which reduces the fl ow performance (e.g. linkage, screwfi�ng,hoseetc.),itispossiblethattherequiredflowforthede-finedclosingpointisnolonger att ained and that the HoseGuard® will not close.Inthiscasetheapplica�onmustbeappropriatelytested.Itispossiblethatanothercomponentmay have to be selected aft er the HoseGuard®, or a smaller HoseGuard®, depending on the test result.

Made of the lead-free brass material Ecobrass/Cuphin® ideal for criti cal applicati on areas such as drinking water, food industry, medical indus-try, etc. Conforms to the DIN 50930-6/FDA/EU drinking water directi ves and other regulati ons.

The use of lead-free materials is growing in importance – in parti cular as an alternati ve material for drinking water applicati ons, where health standards are high. As an alternati ve material to conventi onal brass, Protect-Air off ers a fl uid regulator made of a lead-free brass material – Ecobrass® (trade name CUPHIN).*

Drinking water is considered the most vitalelementforlifenexttoair/oxygen.Sincethereisnoalterna�ve to thisfinite resource,protec�ngandsecuringthestandardandqualityofdrinkingwaterisatoppriorityforengineers,plannersandtechniciansaswellassystemoperators.

The use of lead-free materials is anincreasingpriority–inpar�cularasanalterna�vematerial in the sanita�on, food and medical

sectorswiththeirrigoroushealthstandards.TheEU drinking water direc�ve plays an importantrolehere.Its2013amendmentwilllowertheleadconcentra�on limit from the current level of25microgram per litre of drinkingwater to 10microgram.

Free of toxic additi ves, the Ecobrass/Cuphin® materials (*seepage31below) conform to therequirements specified in DIN 50930-6. Thismakes them par�cularly suitable for cri�calapplica�ons.The fl uid regulators made of Ecobrass® are minimallysuscep�ble to tension-crackcorrosionandaredezincifica�on-resistant,whichmakesanaddi�onal surface treatment unnecessary. Thisis environmentally friendly, saves cycle �mes,addi�onalproceduresandtherebycosts.TheseareallgoodreasonstochooseProtect-AirEcobrass® fl uid regulators that meet health and safety requirements and in areas that are con-stantlysubjecttocorrosionrisk.

TheEcoRegfluidregulatorisanindependentdiaphragmpressureregulatorthatcanbeinstalledinallfluidsystems.Thepressureregulatorensuresaconstantandpreciseoutputpressureindependentfromthe inputpressure.Thepressurevaluehasbeenfactorypresetandcannotbechanged.Thisensuresthatnoonecanmanipulatethespecifiedpressurevalue.

It is generally known that the pressure of fluid lines is usually is too high, fluctuates or variesaccordingtobuildingheight.Insuchcases,theInline-EcoRegfluidregulatorprotectsalldownstreaminstalla�ons, devices and components, because only the proper pressure is admi�ed. This ispar�cularilyimportantforallmachinesandplantsdosingfluidsbecausecostlystopsinproduc�oncanbeavoided.
