You have decided for the installation of a hardwood floor which has been refined and finished by using a PALLMANN lacquer or seal.

LIFE ASSURANCE FOR YOUR WOOD FLOOR

With the decision to seal your hardwood floor you have ensured the most complete protection of wood as a natural product. Alt-hough treated, every protective layer is permanentexposed to abrasion by the simple day to day usage of the floor's surface. In accordance to the industrial standard DIN 18356, the cleaning and care regimes are very important for the preservation of the sealed surface and the wood itself. The correct and tailored cle-aning and accompanying care procedure can, in regular applica-tion, preserve the beauty of your wood floor and prolong its life time for up to 5 years. As the user of the floor, we will explain how to maintain the floor, and any warranties that may be available to you from the wood floor installer, the manufacturer and ourselves, by simply following the care instructions as explained here, and with providing a healthy room climate suitable for hardfloors.

AFTER THE WOOD FLOOR HAS BEEN INSTALLED

Newly sealed wood floors must not be walked on before the sealant has completely dried or cured. This usually takes approxi-mately 8 – 12 days in which the floor should also not be covered with natural or synthetic carpets, tiles, membranes or similar.

ALSO APPLICABLE TO SEALED CORK FLOORS AND COVERINGS FOR SPORT AREAS

These cleaning and care instructions are also applicable in the same way to sealed cork floors (as described in DIN 18365 – floor covering works) which are treated with PALLMANN FINISH CARE. For sealed wood floor according to DIN 18032 (sport areas) as well as EN 14904 PALLMANN FINISH CARE STOP should be used the same as PALLMANN FINISH CARE.

IMPORTANT NOTES: A healthy room climate does not only provide well-being for humans but supports the longevity of your hardwood floor. Wood as a natural product will always respond to air humidity by either absorbing moisture from the surrounding air or disperse moisture to the surrounding air. Changes in the air’s moisture con-tent will trigger a shrinking or swelling in the wood causing gaps to appear in the wood floor. For this reason we recommend a perma-nent room temperature of 18 to 20 °C with a relative air humidity of 50 to 60%. A hygrometer provides essential assistance when measuring and controlling room climate. If these recommendations are not met then a warranty for the work cannot be given. If you are in doubt make the tests yourself.

These cleaning and care instructions are applicable to all hardwood and wood floors which comply with DIN 18356 (parquet and wood block works) which have been sealed with PALLMANN products and have been treated with suitable PALLMANN cleaning and care products.

When using our care products, especially on factory finished floors, and in rare cases there may be some appearance differences. We therefore recommend a small sample area is tested in advance to check compatibility.

ATTENTION: Roller casters and sliders must comply with DIN EN 12529 (Synthetic or Felt). Under swivel chairs we recommend a suitable floor protection mat. Metal made furniture and items need to be placed onto a protective mat. No items containing any form of softening agents as for instance artificial or natural rubber should come in permanent contact with the floor’s surface. Adhesive films and tapes should not come into permanent contact with the floor’s surface.

WITH PALLMANN CLEANPALLMANN CLEAN is a neutral all-purpose cleaning agent for all types of floors.

1. Remove traces of dirt and dust by using a mop, broom or vacuum cleaner.

2. Shake container well before use.

3. Dilute approximately 50 – 100 ml PALLMANN CLEAN in 5 l water.

4. Clean damp (not wet) using a PALLMANN MOP or cloth.

The maintenance cleaning depends on the degree of soiling and the desired hygiene.

WITH PALLMANN CLEAN STRONGPALLMANN CLEAN STRONG is suitable for the thorough floor cleaning. A renewed first-treatment application becomes necessary following the cleaning.

1. Shake container well before use.

2. Dilute approximately 20 – 50 ml PALLMANN CLEAN STRONG in 5 l water.

3. Apply damp (not wet) using a PALLMANN MOP or cloth.

4. After approximately 2 to 5 minutes work the surface with a suitable brush.

5. Remove the dissolved dirt and mop twice with fresh clear water. If necessary repeat the procedure.

DEEP CLEANING TO TACKLE STRONG SOILING

WITH PALLMANN FINISH CAREPALLMANN FINISH CARE is suitable for the surface care of all of hardwood and wood floors.

1. Remove traces of dirt and dust by using a mop, broom or vacuum cleaner.

2. Shake container well before use.

3. Maintenance care: Carry out maintenance cleaning with PALLMANN CLEAN. Afterwards dilute approximately 50 – 150 ml PALLMANN FINISH CARE in 5 l water. Use pure if surface tends to show gaps, extensive scratch marks or differences in shine.

4. Apply damp (not wet) using a PALLMANN MOP or cloth.

5. After drying (approx. 1 hour), the surface can be used.

PLEASE NOTE: If wood floors require a degree of slip resistance, as for instance in sport arenas, care homes or nurseries, PALLMANN FINISH CARE STOP is recommended.

For specialmatte laquers (without require a degree of slip resistan-ce), for example PALL-X ZERO or PALL-X PURE, PALLMANN FINISH CARE matte is recommended.

The correct cleaning and care treatment is like life insurance cover for your sealed wood floor.

Maintenance care treatment for commercially used floorsIn commercially used areas a so called caresacrificial layer is needed. This layer provides the basis for the described maintenance cleaning procedure to take place (with PALLMANN CLEAN). The PALLMANN FINISH CARE follows on pure (undiluted) as described previously in ‘Initial care treatment with PALLMANN FINISH CARE’. The re-newed care treatment application is guided by the appearance of gaps, extensive scratch marks or differences in shine.

WITH PALLMANN FINISH CAREWe recommend to first-treat a newly sealed hardwood floor with a basic care procedure after approximately 8 – 12 days. The first-treatment ensures an extra protec-tion for your sealed wood surface. Please note that all intensively cleaned or unprotected hardwood floors also need to receive this care procedure. PALLMANN FINISH CARE is suitable for the surface care of all hardwood and wood floors.

1. Remove traces of dirt and dust by using a mop, broom or vacuum cleaner.

2. Shake container well before use.

3. Use approximately 20 ml of PALLMANN FINISH CARE undiluted per square metre applied thinly but evenly onto the floor by using the PALLMANN MOP.

4. The floor is ready to be walked on after approximately 1 hour. There is no need for any form of polishing.
