The UTSA PD Crime Prevention Unit wants to remind you of some tips to keep yourself, your family, your home and your valuables safe. At Home: 1- Always lock your doors and windows especially at night and when you’re away. 2- Close your garage and pet doors. 3- Secure ladders and tools so they can’t be used to gain entry into your home. 4- Be wary of anyone who approaches your front door and don’t let them take up too much of your time. Criminals work together; one will come to your door and distract you while the other sneaks into your home. 5- Always ask for an ID (picture and company name) 6- Be a good neighbor, lookout for one another. 7- Excessive dog barking could be a sign of an intruder and may warrant a call to the police (911 or 458-4911 on campus). 8- Lock up your home, activate your alarm. 9- Don’t broadcast your plans or post photos of yourself on the beach on social media. 10- Hold the delivery of your mail and newspaper or ask a trusted friend to pick them up for you. 11- Buy a timer for your lights and set them in a random pattern. Vacation Crime Prevention Tips

All found property that is turned in to the University Police Lost & Found section is stored at the University Police Lost & Found for 60 days.

After 60 days, the found property is transferred to the Surplus Property Department for public auctions or further disposition. To report lost

property items or to make inquiries regarding lost property call 210.458.4242 (24 hours a day). To claim found property items, individuals

must present a valid Texas Driver’s license, UTSA photo ID card or a valid photo ID card from another source; military ID or another state

photo ID card. Individuals must be able to accurately describe the property that was lost in order to claim property from the lost & found section. The below listed items are currently being held by UTSAPD. If not claimed in 30 days, they will be disposed of in accordance with

policy.
