Provide proof of educational qualifications if under 21Ifyouareunder21yearsofage,youmusthavepassedtheVictorianCertificateofEducation(VCE)orequivalent(SeniorLevelVictorianCertificateofAppliedLearning(VCAL)isaccepted)priortoinduction.

Hold a Victorian Driver’s LicenceYoumusthaveacurrentVictoriandriver'slicenceatthetimeofinduction.Eitheranautomaticormanuallicence is acceptable.

Note: Victoria Police is also particularly interested in recruits with bilingual communication skills who are able to talk to a member of the public in their native language and convey information back in English.

Am I eligible to become a PSO?

InordertobeeligibletoworkasaPSOforVictoriaPolice,youmustmeetthefollowingentryrequirements:

Hold Australian Citizenship or Australian Permanent ResidencyYoumustbeanAustralianCitizenorholdAustralianpermanentresidencytojoinVictoriaPolice.

Demonstrate sound English communication skillsOne of the fundamental skills that you will need to demonstrate as a PSO applicant is your ability to communicatewellinEnglish.Thismeanshavingtheabilitytoread,write,listenandverballycommunicateinEnglishatalevelthatwillallowyoutocompetentlycarryoutthedutiesoftheroleinanoperationalcontext.

• AsaPSOyourconductonandoffdutywillreflectonyourselfandVictoriaPolice.ThisbehaviourmustbeofahighstandardandreflectthevaluesofVictoriaPolice

• AsaPSOyouwillneedtohaveaccesstoaprivatevehicletotransportyoutoandfromworkaspublictransportserviceswillhaveceasedbythetimeyoufinishyourshift

• AsaPSOyouwillbegiventheopportunitytoexpresswhatareayouwouldliketobedeployedtoafter

training;howeverthiswillbereliantonavailability

What is the application process for a PSO?
