Annual Exercise - LBNL Evacuation
LBNL annual exercise will be held on July 11, 2013.
Partial Evacuation of the Lab
Exercise Scope – 20 Buildings – 1,800 employees – 2:30 to 4:00 pm – Wildland fire scenario

LBNL Evacuation Exercise
• Exercise Control • A team consisting of Lab departments and divisions
as well as off site partners began planning for this exercise in late 2012.
• Laboratory employee’s and affiliates have been receiving updates on how the exercise will affect them.
• LBNL Community Relations will notify the Cal News Office, the Berkeley Mayor’s office and local community groups prior to the exercise.

LBNL Evacuation Exercise
• Exercise Control • Buildings will be evacuated in a phased approach. • Building occupants will be assisted by staff trained in
emergency evacuation procedures. • Traffic flow will be monitored both on and off site. • Any significant impediments to safety or traffic flow
will be immediately addressed. The exercise is designed to allow for adjustments or cessation of the evacuation on-the-fly.
• Employees will be allowed to return once and “all clear” notice has been given.
