Prototype Briefing

Hello user. we are from group PakuPakis and we are currently working on creating an application (app), which helps you to book for places in UTM from wherever you are through online. You can even view the places that you want to book through this application with 360 view. Moreover, you can know your booking status through this application.

Informed Consent

This study is to identify what does and does not work in our current design interface. This study is for a project under Human Computer Interaction course in UTM. Today, you will be interacting with a paper prototype with your fingers. Mohd Shafiq Irwan and Amirul Nazmi will have their role as a computer. They will be moving the papers as you progress through the application. They both are not allowed to interact with you besides what you see on the phone screen. Do you have any questions before we start?

Scenario Tasks

· View place (VIEW)

· Book a place (BOOKING)

· View booking history (BOOKING HISTORY)

User Demographics

Human Computer Interaction course students, second year students from faculty of computing, and randomly picked end users.

Observations USER 1: Prasasti Tunggal Malaya

The user could not find the further information of her booking which is price and suggest that we must provide the full information of her booking. She also said that it is not convenient as after task 1 (VIEW), it goes back to the main menu which is the choose item and location and told us that it’s a waste of time to do so. As a solution, we provide a pricing menu for user to view the place with its range of prices and also information regarding their booking in the book list or booking history. We also provide notifications to inform users on their booking status and payment notice to secure their bookings.

USER 2: Zharfan Zulkifli

This user was confused whether his booking has been completed and suggest that we have to provide a clear statement on the apps to avoid misunderstanding which make the user confused on where to tap to see the booking details. As a solution, we provide notification to inform users for everytime their booking has been received. And also provide the full information on their booking at the booking list and booking history without having the user to tap on anything.

USER 3: Nur Ainul Afieqah Binti Nuzula

This user told that she still can view or book or see booking history even when they’re not logged in. She also states that there is no next button after entering date and user details and she still have to enter details even after logged in. User thinks that by providing a contact information for her to follow up with her booking will be much better. Also, user states that there is no payment method or clear instructions on where to pay their booking. As a solution, everytime user tap on booking history they will go back to the log in or register page. While for booking, they will have to login or register after when they have finish choosing for place and dates. Other than that, we also provide next button and secure details of user after they have logged in. We also provides notifications for user to follow up with their booking and inform them where to pay their booking and also includes online banking as other payment methods.

What would you suggest to improve the interaction flow?

User 1

User 3

The option for login should be in other page.

Would you use/not the system in real life? Please give brief reason.

User 1

I will not use for myself, but I will recommend this app to an organization that frequently held events in UTM.

User 2

Yes, because I can easily book places in UTM online without having to drive to the office to make a booking.

User 3

Yes, Because I don’t need to go view the place or item manually.

Task 2: Booking.

User 2

Everything is easy .

User 3

Most of the interfaces makes user feel easy.

What was difficult?

User 1

After first task (VIEW), I want to directly book the place but the apps goes back to choose place page and it wastes my time and energy to have me to search for the place again . Other than that, there is no details on price or deposit payment for booking.

User 2

It is not difficult, it is just quite confusing when I want to enter the choose date and I also did not know whether I have completed my booking or not.

No next button, User still need to enter their personal details even after log in.

What would you suggest to improve the interaction flow?

User 1

Please give payment notice whether the user should pay online or pays directly to the office.

User 2

The system should state whether the booking has been confirmed or not.

User 3

Include next button especially after entering date and user details. Include any contact information for user to keep follow up with their booking status, that will be better. Since user have login, the system should automatically saved the personal details of user.

Would you use/not the system in real life? Please give brief reason.

User 1

No, Because I am not an event organizer.

User 2

Yes, Because it will make it easier for me to book places in UTM

User 3

Yes, because user (especially UTM students) not all have their own transport to go to the office, Thus, this application is really helpful during any events.

Task 3: View Booking History.

What was easy?

User 1

Easy to identify which booking is approved and rejected.

User 2

Everything is easy but quite confusing when it comes to the instruction “Tap to see booking details’”. I thought I have to tap at the sentence but turns out that actually I have to tap on the list of booking that have been made.

User 3

User able to know their booking status and booking history.

What was difficult?

There is no detail for each item I booked. I want to know when I request and booked the place because I might be coming from an organization that need to book for place or item.

Nothing is difficult.

User 3

No payment method.

What would you suggest to improve the interaction flow?

User 1

Provide further details for each item or place that has been booked by user. And to rebook for rejected bookings.

User 2

The instructions should be more clear . Provide option for payment method.

User 3

Include payment method.

Would you use/not the system in real life? Please give brief reason.

User 1

No, Because I am not an event organizer.

User 2

Yes, Because I can check my booking history and make payment.

User 3

Yes, By including booking details, user can rebook any place and item they want.
