A warm welcome to the sixth edition of our newsletter, an endeavour that is specifically designed to offer a “closer-to-home” experience for cherished customers, stakeholders and property enthusiasts

so that you are constantly connected to BÖN Estates’ vision of a new era of quality living.

PROUD OF OUR PROGRESS, KEEN TO DO MORE

Firstly, I’m thankful for this; my first oppor- tunity to engage with you on this wonder- ful platform, which keeps BÖN Estates in regular touch with those that matter to us most… you.

Indeed, as we wrap up the first quarter of the year, we look back at an eventful pe- riod that buzzed with activity — specifically

those associated with the recently con-cluded Chinese New Year festivities, which presented a number of opportunities to celebrate in the full spirit of the season.

From our perspective, the purpose of such events hold deeper meaning than a chance to congregate in good cheer and indulge in good food, they also present us with unique opportunities to bond with our community as well as further strengthen our partnerships with friends and brands that share similar ideals and visions.

As our Managing Director, Goh Soo Sing, often says: “Through our events, we not only have a chance to promote a game- changing way of life for modern urbanites, we also enhance our interaction with the community we are building, offering ave-nues to receive valuable feedback and a platform to continuously share ideas.”

We are also grateful that our continuous dedication to this outlook, and our commit- ment to crafting a holistic and balanced lifestyle experience with emotive appeal, has brought greater attention to our brand and raised the profile of the company.

In addition to a number of awards that have already come our way, our efforts continue

to receive applause from the industry as a whole and the media, which is humbling. A recent example is The Estate being named among the Top 6 most coveted premium addresses in the Klang Valley by leading lifestyle magazine Malaysia Tatler.

This story, as well as more on the many festive activities we shared with the grow-ing BÖN Estates community is featured in this issue.

And finally, even as the BÖN Estates team immersed itself in the spirit of celebration this festive season, I am also happy to report that much progress has continued on the work front and key objectives for the first quarter have been met.

Construction on our flagship project The Estate moves forward at encouraging pace, and the onsite team reports that work on

the overall foundation of the project is very close to completion at 99.7%.

As The Estate begins to take on its promised shape, the community that will soon call it home is growing larger too. I am happy to report that we have now achieved 75% in sales and foresee this positive trend to continue as we progress through 2018.

On that note, we wish you a happy, fulfil- ing and prosperous year ahead, and we look forward to sharing the “Good Life” with all of you.

Gong Xi Fa Chai!

And finally, even as the BÖN Estates team immersed itself in the spirit of celebration this festive season, I am also happy to report that much progress has continued on the work front and key objectives for the first quarter have been met. — Chan Jin-Wy, BÖN Estates Commercial Director

MAKING IT ON A PRESTIGIOUS LIST

The Estate is named among the Top 6 most coveted premium addresses in the Klang Valley by leading lifestyle magazine.

When BÖN Estates first embarked on our journey of development, the goal was to bring positive change to the built land-scape with simple honesty of purpose — to improve lives by paying close attention to quality, long-lasting appeal and the cura-tion of spaces that offer a well-balanced lifestyle.

This outlook was manifested in our flag-ship project, The Estate @ South Bangsar, where this simple (but important) lifestyle proposition began to not only strike a chord among home seekers looking for a

more conducive living environment, but it also began to gain attention on a larger scale, on a national and international level.

BÖN Estates is humbled and grateful for the applause our efforts have gained, spe-cifically because it reinforces our belief that people, at their core, have basic but crucial needs that we need to pay closer attention to, which are security, comfort, peace of mind, time with loved ones and a conducive environment to raise a family. We simply call this balanced living envi-ronment “Good Living” and we understand that when it is well-crafted, it can be a place you are proud to call home.

Leading lifestyle magazine Malaysia Tattler recently shared our vision, in an article en-titled “6 Prestigious Properties In Klang Valley That Are Dream Homes Come To Life”. Our flagship project, The Estate, was identified as one of the most “coveted pre-

rey exterior, a sunny, community spirit with holistic living standards is the charming draw fostered by developer BÖN Estate,” the article said.

It also applauded the freehold project for its use of enduring eco materials, its resort-themed landscape, dual-key con-cept and the fact that it makes multi-gen-eration cohabitation more convenient and conducive.

mium addresses that take homebuyers out of their comfort zone and into the new luxurious, perfect homes”.

Compiling Klang Valley’s most coveted properties, the publication brought light to an evolving modern society which desires more than a home to return to at the end of the day. Today, people want spaces that enrich their lifestyle experience too.

MAKING GREAT PROGRESS IN 2018

Despite the festivities of the season, construction progress on BÖN Estates’ f lagship project, The Estate @ South Bangsar, continues to pace towards the finish line at encouraging speed.

As we approach the end of the first quarter of 2018, important milestones are being met in the construction of the RM650 million luxury project, The Estate @ South Bangsar.

The key news from the onsite team is that work on the overall foundation of the project is now close to fully completed, with 99.7% of the job done.

With main contractor Kerjaya Prospek at the helm, much of the key construction components for Tower A of the two-tower project were already completed by the start of the year.

Now, the construction team reports that all bored piles, micropiles and pilecap work for the areas surrounding Tower A have also been 100% completed.

Similarly, all necessary foundation work for Tower B has been completed too, with 100% of the work on bored piles and pile-cap done.

Work is also very close to completion for the exciting podium level, which will host many of The Estate’s lifestyle facilities and attractions. According to the team, all bored pile and micropile work has been

completed, while pilecap work is now 97% completed.

Additionally, all contiguous caisson pile work and the contiguous bored pile wall for the overall site is 100% completed.

Taking shape on 3.68 acres beside the Bukit Gasing Forest Reserve in the vibrant Kuala Lumpur suburb of South Bangsar, The Estate marks a new breed of luxury high-rise condominium and it is poised to redefine the meaning of property and life-style value.

“We simply can’t wait to share this excep-tional address with our customers who be-lieve in our vision of leading more fulfilling, wholesome lives,” said BÖN Estates mar-keting director Angeline Liau.

This Chinese New Year, BÖN Estates embraced the influence of the Five Elements to celebrate unity, peace, balance, health and… the Good Life.

BÖN Estates Gallery, 57 Jalan Penaga, Bangsar 10 February 2018

REJOICING IN THE SPIRIT OF HARMONY

The New Year is a time to rejoice, strength-en bonds with family and friends, ignite a spirit of unity and even reorient your life to rediscover a sense of harmony and balance. It presents an opportunity to begin afresh and renew your outlook towards the future.

As a dynamic developer, we believe that BÖN Estates is in the business of “fresh beginnings”, as we endeavour to curate enduring lifestyle solutions that improve the quality of life and enriches the living experience. In approaching this goal we also aim to strike a balance between the dynamism of modern living and timeless truths about leading a fulfilling life.

In this respect we are inspired by the an- cient teachings of “BÖN”, from which we derive our name, and are guided by its focus on the unity of Five Elements, which has the power to bring exceptional health, balance and prosperity to our environment.

For this reason, the Five Elements were celebrated in full splendour during the Chinese New Year season, as we ushered in The Year of the Dog in festive spirit with

members of the growing BÖN Estate com- munity on February 10th at the BÖN Estates Gallery in Bangsar.

“Of course our prime objective was a fun- filled event for families and loved ones in the traditional spirit of New Year festivities, but this was also a wonderful opportunity to share a spirit of harmony in the context of the underlying philosophies that drive our concepts and vision for a better life,” said Marketing Director Angeline Liau.

The Five Elements, which influence the ide- ology and design of all BÖN Estates prod-ucts, were the main theme of the event, inspiring the many activities and lifestyle enrichment workshops planned for the day.

The “wood” element, for example, inspired a highly symbolic calligraphy exercise where guests were invited to make their mark on a single giant paper parchment. As paper comes from wood, it provided the canvas on which many individuals would write the word “harmony” in traditional

Chinese characters, thereby paying hom-age to the word itself.

“These collective markings shared a single space, symbolising that out of many, we are still one, channelling our spirit of unity,” said Liau.

Also symbolic was the use of Kansai Paint’s latest cutting-edge product, Ales Shiquy, to write with. The paint has remarkable air purifying properties as well as numerous other positive health and environment benefits. Once completed, the paper was cut into individual pieces and participants took home a decorative piece that literal-ly brought “a breath of fresh air” into their living space.

Representing “water”, a flower reading tuto- rial was organised by Chinese metaphysics academy Soleil Trinity. The flower, symbol-ising the bounty that water brings forth from the earth, can also provide insights into your inner self and a glimpse of the future according to ancient lore. Guests were given important tips into how to read the various messages that nature offers us.

“We always enjoy events such as this be-cause it allows us to intimately connect with our community. We also think it is important to infuse deeper meaning into everything we do, so that we never lose sight of why we engage with people in the first place, nor our commitment to fulfill-ing the promise of Living, Well Crafted,” said Liau.

Celebrating “Earth” was a Grow Your Own Edible Garden workshop. Conducted by terrarium maker Frozen Trees, the workshop promoted a future of self-sufficiency and sustainability by giving guests guidance on how to grow edible items within their own living spaces.

An entertaining highlights of the day was a giant “metal” hamster wheel. Guests were invited to make a Hamster Wheel Run, which was fun to watch as well as import-ant, because it served to generate energy that was stored in batteries. This is very much in line with BÖN Estates’ commit-ment to a more sustainable future.

The “fire” element in ancient culture is not just a source of heat, it also represents the energy that flows through our atmosphere. At the event, fire was represented by the en- ergy and passion that went into the drum performance by the Universiti Malaya Drum Association.

Guests were brought to their feet in full Chinese New Year cheer and appreciation of the musical artistry displayed by the performers. It was a spirited performance and we were proud to offer young talents such as these a platform to showcase their skill.

Gastronomical delights for the New Year celebration was provided by a start-studded line-up of culinary experts. This included The Good Co, Buttercake Factory, Monster Chef, Sunflower Organics and Kind Kones.

The event was given additional colour with the participation of pop-up lifestyle retail stalls, which provided a unique boutique shopping experience for guests who want- ed pick up a little something to take home as well as give a little something back to the community. A portion of the proceeds from this would eventually go to two im-portant charities at a separate event held at a later date.

“These collective markings shared a single space, symbolising that out of many, we are still one, channelling our spirit of unity,” said Liau.

BÖN Estates teams up with Volvo and Aurizn to promote artistry, imagination and interior design excellence through a unique competition.

CRAFTING LIFESTYLES IN AUTOMOTIVE-INSPIRED DESIGN

Volvo is a brand that has etched its place in automotive history. Its commitment to design form and function as well as its outlook on safety, security and comfort are virtues that we at BÖN Estates also hold close to our hearts, as we endeav-our to bring a more purposeful, emotive and valuable living experience to the built landscape.

Brought together by shared ideology, BÖN Estates recently joined with Volvo and di- gital publisher Aurizn to introduce an in-terior design competition that challenged talented Malaysian designers to integrate the best of Scandinavian design with our own Eastern philosophical influence.

Participating design firms were tasked with envisioning and bringing to life spa-tial concepts that combine the influences of Volvo’s Swedish design language and

the BÖN Estates “Five Elements” design philosophy that is prevalent in our flagship project The Estate.

The competing designs were apartment interiors based on the specifications of an actual unit at The Estate and had to stay true to the design language of both Volvo and The Estate.

These completed designs were presented at Volvo Aurizn Design Challenge Exhibit Night at the BÖN Estates Gallery as senior management members of Volvo Car Malaysia, BÖN Estates and respective guests and customers pronounced final judgement.

The winner, [Grov Design], was finally deter- mined via a systematic vote by attendees at the event. The grand prize was an all- expense paid trip to Volvo’s spiritual home and headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Other participants were not left empty- handed, however, as each design firm was invited to join BÖN Estates’ panel of de-signers for current and future projects.

In congratulating the winners , BÖN Estates Managing Director Goh Soo Sing also applauded all participants, noting that the real triumph of the night was the overall talent on show and what it represents in terms of imagination, art-istry, talent and the future prospect of Malaysian interior design.

“We have always been fans of the power of imagination, and to see it come to fru-ition in the form of outstanding interior concepts on this occasion is certainly in-spiring, especially to us in the BÖN Estates family who firmly believe in enhancing the quality of life through spaces that are well- crafted,” Goh said.

BÖN Estates’ chief executive officer Goh Soo Sing is identified as a contemporary leader that stays true to centuries-old wisdoms in a modern landscape.

TAPPING INTO THE RIGHT ELEMENTS FOR WORK AND LIFE

One of Asia’s leading society lifestyle guides, Prestige magazine recently ran an insightful feature on the continued influ-ence of eastern philosophy and culture on modern lives, identifying three individuals that actively incorporate cultural discipline and centuries-old knowledge at home and in their successful careers today.

Among them was our very own young and dynamic chief executive Goh Soo Sing, who was highlighted as someone who values personal freedom of expression.

Prestige’s article pointed out that Goh’s personal element is wood, and like most of those who are born under this element, he has a knack for planning and strategy.

“These qualities are his strengths and they complement his ambitious and competi-tive nature well. To aid in harnessing Chi, he chooses to meditate, as the breathing technique helps to calm his mind and in turn, unblock all the energy throughout his body. Through this he can focus bet-ter and make better decisions,” the article stated, as it probed into factors that make this man tick.

A strong advocate of work-life balance, Goh’s outlook and ideology on life has also been infused into his company, which has adopted a mission of building long-term and sustainable homes for communities. A chief ingredient of this vision has been a desire to a balanced living environment for homeseekers.

Channelling the five elements, and guided by the ancient Tibetan teachings of Bon, Goh told Prestige that by incorporating a good balance of these elements in our living environment, we help to promote peace and longevity in our lives.

“As the developer is known for advocat-ing wellness and balance at its core, Soo Sing explains that it’s only natural for BÖN Estates to further express its concept by heightening its customer’s five senses, which are sight, sound, taste, touch and

smell. And this can be clearly seen and experienced by all at its beautifully struc-tured sales gallery perched atop Jalan Maarof,” Prestige said in its article.

It went on to say that each content and programme that runs within the gallery is well thought out and planned, while guests are invited to immerse themselves and their senses in an experiential journey the moment they step into the gallery.

Goh explained that Feng Shui is applied at The Estate by tapping into the right energy surrounding the land. Renowned Feng Shui master Dato’ Joey Yap assessed that the sur-rounding landscape represents a “Mid-level Dragon” advancing towards the project, which facilitates a gathering of Chi and re-markable future prospects for residents.

Goh also expressed his preference for working spaces that have an optimum combination of natural elements. These, he said, create good vibes to calm your mind and it is crucial to be in that peace-ful state especially when you’re looking to make the best decisions and work in har-mony with others.

A SEASON OF FESTIVITY

At BÖN Estates, the events we organise are more than occasions to mingle with good food and great atmosphere; it is also an opportunity to celebrate common values and principles that shape the lifestyle ideology

behind the spaces we curate for your benefit and the community we envision.

Starting the year with wellness in mind, BÖN Estates Gallery and The Good Co played host to the Haven x BÖN Estates Healthy Lunar New Year brunch early last month.

Organised by Haven magazine (The Edge) in collaboration with BÖN Estates and The Good Co, the event featured celebrity chef Danielle Graham, fresh off the success of her new book The Ta- ble At Home, who was on hand to present the appetiser and main course.

Along the way Graham also of- fered guest a cooking demo on the items prepared, while The Good Co founder Levi Li prepar- ed special Lau Sang platters, put- ting her trademark ‘healthy and tasty’ twist on a very traditional dish.

In a joint open house event or- ganised by BÖN Estates and Ma- laysian SME founder Wayne Lim, the BÖN Estates Gallery played host to an exclusive group of business leaders and corporate personalities for an evening of festivity and music.

Almost 80 high society guests, who were personally invited by Mr Lim, attended the event and were treated to a traditional Lau Sang as well as a host of other cocktail delights.

A key highlight was an outstand- ing performance by an instru-mental Chinese orchestra band, while guests were also given an exclusive tour of The Estate’s show unit located at the gallery.

A key highlight of Chinese New Year celebrations is the reunion dinner, where members of the family make the effort come to- gether to welcome a new year in unity and solidarity.

As a family, the entire BÖN Es-tates team came together for a scrumptious multi-course din- ner at the Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant at One World Hotel, which also included a traditional Lau Sang to wish each other the best for an eventful year ahead.

The occasion was an ideal op- portunity for team members to strengthen bonds and reflect on the achievements of the past, realise how far we’ve come as an organisation and feed off each other’s enthusiasm for the work ahead.

An eventful New Year season cul- minated in a final open house celebration held at the BÖN Estates Gallery in Bangsar, an event that also saw the company give back to the community in the true spirit of the season.

In addition to a riveting lion dance performance, gastrono- mical delights, and plenty of en- tertainment and activities for children, guests at the event wit- nessed the presentation of two RM12,000 cheques to two char- itable organisations: The Good Sa- maritan Home and Epic Homes.

The amount was raised via BÖN Estates’ main Chinese New Year event held on February 10th, which drew sizeable participa- tion and showcased a novel selection of pop-up retailers among many other highlights.
