Well done to Annie Holliday who won The Bowes Museum 125th anniversary art competition for her painting of the famous silver swan.

She won a cuddly swan and a family pass to the museum for a year, as well as having her work displayed in the museum's gallery alongside all the famous paintings.

This week year 1 have been learning to measure length and height using centimetres. We know how hard Miss Hodges works and we wanted to reward her with a chocolate bar. However, we had to carry out a maths investigation as Miss Hodges only eats chocolate bars that are over 12cm long. The children had to measure different chocolate bars using centimetres to find out which ones Miss Hodges could eat. We discovered that a Wispa is over 12cm long and would be the prefect treat

Chocolate Bar Investigation

On Thursday, Year 6 headed down to Right Click Studios in Richmond to have their pictures taken for the end of year leavers’ book. The children had individual photos taken as well pictures with their close friends from throughout primary school.

The children were impeccably behaved and did indeed smile for the camera. We’re looking forward to seeing their smiling faces in the books come July.

Smile for the camera Year 6…

This morning, we welcomed Glynn Fidgeon to our school to deliver a morning of Judo to the children. Glynn visited the school last year; his sessions were a big hit with the children which led to many of them taking it up as a hobby.

Just like last year, the sessions were fantastic! The children loved every minute of them and it really encouraged them to be active role models. Thank you Glynn for giving up your time (again) to visit our school.

Judo Taster Day

On Wednesday, year 6 enjoyed a visit to the Riverside Stadium as part of our exciting partnership with Middlesbrough F.C.

The children first visited one of the training grounds and enjoyed some team games such as tchoukball and dodgeball. Following this, we received a guided tour of the stadium from Maz (our PE coach) which included: the stands, the directors’ box and the players’ changing rooms.

The children loved the day from start to finish and were impeccably behaved throughout. Well done to the children and thank you to Maz and Middlesbrough F.C for a fantastic day.
