Construction The Vessel is constructed of marine plywood diagonal planked on Oregon stringers and laminated white pine frames. All keel, stem and backbone is laminated hardwood. All glue is Epoxy. All external surfaces are fibreglass with triaxial and/or biaxial E glass G cloth prior to fairing with Epoxy / Microballoons. Faired surface is primed with Epoxy high build primer prior to top coating with Paint Co Caprithane and the underwater area is prepared as above and the anti fouled with 2 coats of Awlcraft antifouling. All construction has been carried out and inspected in accordance with NZ Maritime Safety Authority survey requirements PART 40 A. “ Kalibobo Spirit “ is in current Papua New Guinea DOT 2C & has perquisite for Queensland commercial registration.

All passenger cabins have ensuite. Six crew in four forward comfortable cabins. Entering the “ Kalibobo Spirit “ via the starboard mounted Marquip companionway you pass through the main doors to the entry / library area. On your right you note nicely finished macrocarpa timber cupboards with the granite topped servery bench from the galley. Proceedings on you enter the dining saloon. This contains four custom made tables on pedestals which can if required be removed to give a totally clear floor space. Around the perimeter is upholstered banquette seating with storage underneath plus twelve comfortable dining chairs in the same rust patterned fabric. The forward saloon has good natural light and visibility from a generous provision of armour plated glass. There is a ceiling mounted projector and large pull down screen to provide evening entertainment. The room is completed with Bremworth carpet and fine quality curtains. The coffeemaker sits on granite bench atop a fixed macrocarpa unit which also houses the Bose audio system. A door on the port side of this saloon gives access to the galley and bar. A curved stairway on the starboard side lead down to the engine room, three guest cabins, crew quarters and a crew bathroom plus a lockable storage cabin for large suitcases etc. Returning up the stairway to the dining saloon, we proceed along the starboard side from where we entered the ship to the aft saloon. To your right you see a library with and fine wooden units storing high quality china and cutlery and serving dishes. Onwards you pass a stairway up to the bridge deck. The aft saloon and bar contains an LCD wall mounted TV, two fixed curved seating areas covered in a deep blue vinyl material each unit with a small pedestal mounted table. There are also two large wing backed lounge chairs. The curved bar in macrocarpa is a show piece and finished off in a polished granite bar top and there is a ceiling mounted macrocarpa unit containing the xenon spotlights. The interior of the bar has an under bench bottle chiller as well as a large fixed chiller with all benches in stainless steel. By proceeding aft through the double doors you find a port head plus a general storage locker. Returning into the aft saloon you note a curved stairway down to the aft sleeping accommodation. This consists of six cabins each with a queen sized bed with quality mattresses, linen and accessories. Each cabin has its own bathroom consisting of a toilet, shower box and hand basin




with extractor fan. All lower cabins are air-conditioned and have a 14” LCD TV. In the cavity under the stairway is a storage area with a pull out unit rollers containing linen and accessories. Going back up the stairway we return to the stairs leading up the bridge deck aft to starboard is the Master Cabin with a queen bed complete with side lamps, lounge chair, desk, CD player, LCD TV and DVD/VCR on swivel mount, cupboards and wardrobes, plus a safe for valuables. The suite has a bathroom with heated towel rails and double doors lead off to the outside and expansive deck space which also has a separate head and basin. The communication room or office is also located on the bridge deck. It has a built in desk with drawers plus chair, safe, PC computer, phone/fax and satellite phone. The bridge has a starboard station with comfortable pilot seat to view all controls. On the port side there is a fixed seating arrangement with underneath storage. There is excellent visibility from the helm equipped with all the necessary electronics and equipment for safe and comfortable cruising. Adequate charts are available, plus a ships bell and clock/barometer. A set of stairs leads up from the pilothouse to the flybridge helm with all the controls required to operate the vessel. There is seating on the flybridge for thirty guests. We return to the main deck to view the galley which is located between the two saloons but on the port side. Apart from the equipment referred to earlier it is fitted out with all general kitchen appliances. Benches are all hard wearing stainless steel with rolled spill proof edges. There are two sinks (one with salt water pump). The galley has a pantry cupboard with food containers on shelves. There is also a wash hand basin and drop down fire curtain between the galley and bar. The galley has a very efficient ducted extractor fan over the cooking appliances in stainless steel with filters. Hopefully this walkthrough has enabled you to understand the efficient and flowing layout the vessel offers.
