Proverbs 28:23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall

find more favor than he that flattereth with the

tongue.

An honest compliment is not flattery.

Flattery is dishonest and, in the long run, does

a lot of damage to the man who hears it.

But, we have seen again and again in Scripture that

only a wise person will hear rebuke.

A foolish person rejects all correction.

3

We need to gather unto us friends who will be

honest with us because they love us.

And, because honest is who they are.

A person can’t be someone whom he is not.

An unbeliever trying to be a Christian is a hypocrite

and won’t be able to keep up the pretense.

A flatterer trying to be sincere, will fail.

An honest man will not deceive.

4

24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and

saith, It is no transgression; the same is the

companion of a destroyer.

Anyone who can justify stealing from his

daddy or mama, will do anything;

even murder.

He has no conscience!

5

He might say, “Well, it was to be my inheritance.”

That does not justify stealing it early.

He might say, “They should have given it to me.”

But likely they were withholding it for a reaon.

Maybe they knew his character was not developed.

He was still a punk.

Wasteful!

6

25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but

he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made

fat.

A proud heart in this verse is referring to one

who takes great pride in more.

7

25 b… he that putteth his trust in the Lord

shall be made fat.

The proud of heart depends on lots of

possessions and money for their well-

being, their reputation, and satisfaction.

A godly man or woman trusts only in the

Lord for all these things and more.

8

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but

whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Proverbs 1 29 For that they hated knowledge, and

did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They

would none of My Counsel: they despised all My

Reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of

their own way, and be filled with their own

devices.

9

Don’t trust in your own thinking; our

wisdom is foolishness with God.

10

27 He that giveth unto the poor (destitute) shall not

lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a

curse.

Romans 8 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of

God, they are the sons of God.

As in everything else in life, our giving

must be led by the Spirit of God.

Otherwise, giving can do more harm than good.

11

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but

when they perish, the righteous increase.

Wicked leaders (politicians, church leaders,)

will destroy righteousness.

We must stand up for that which is right.

Be good soldiers.
