‘blockbusters’
Identifying the right provision for all pupils
DfE working definition of provision mapping
‘Gaps in attainment and patterns of underachievement still persist for some disadvantaged groups. Many schools have developed systematic approaches to mapping planned interventions for vulnerable individuals and groups. However, to successfully tackle underachievement there is a need to move beyond intervention mapping towards the more holistic process of provision mapping. Unlike intervention mapping, which identifies specific targeted support for individuals and groups of pupils, provision mapping takes into account the full scope of provision, including quality first teaching, guided and group work and individual interventions in order to identify and remove potential barriers to learning and meet the needs of all pupils within and beyond the school setting.’
