CBAI is pleased to present its 2012 Education Catalog. We would like to thank you for your continued support of theCBAI education programs. As you know, continuing education is extremely important in the community banking field, andthe CBAI Education Committee, along with the CBAI Education Department, strives to provide you with valuable programsdesigned specifically for your staff and management team that will advance the skills of all personnel in a communitybank. We strongly believe that the knowledge gained through these programs can result in success for you, your employ-ees, and your bank.

One-day seminars and conferences remain at the core of CBAI’s professional-development program. Designed for commu-nity bankers by community bankers, these seminars are led by experts in their fields; most have hands-on communitybanking experience and utilize a variety of approaches to keep learning at its highest. In addition to the knowledgegained at these programs, instructors provide user-friendly manuals and tools that can be taken back to the bank forimmediate use and sharing with other staff members.

CBAI works with individual bankers to bring experts to the most convenient location of all — your own communitybanks. Members also have access to training via the Internet and webinars. Users log-on and receive award-winning training anytime, anywhere. Community bankers have access to nearly 100 highly focused webinar courses, as well as PC-based training.

A brief description of each seminar, school, institute, and training program that has been scheduled to date is contained inthis catalog. Additional seminars will be added later in the year.

Brochures concerning each program are usually e-mailed eight weeks prior and mailed six weeks prior to each program.A one-page flier highlighting key aspects of the seminar or institute is faxed three weeks before the program. All programsare also described on the Internet at www.cbai.com. Registrations may be mailed, faxed, e-mailed, telephoned, or madeonline to the Association. CALL REPORT PREPARATIONThis comprehensive seminar is a review of each schedule ofthe quarterly Call Report with emphasis on the extensive2011-2012 revisions, accounting changes, and regulatory guid-ance. Recent changes have produced confusion and manyquestions. The seminar provides basic training for new pre-parers and complete coverage of new and complex issues forexperienced preparers. Annual training is highly recommend-ed by bank regulators. Because of all the recent changes, thisprogram is now a two-day session. Bankers with responsibili-ty for the entire Call Report should attend both days. The sec-ond day includes all the lending schedules and offers trainingto those responsible for only these schedules.

MITIGATING RISK IN TRUST-AACCOUNT ADMINISTRATIONThis seminar takes a fictional living trust with variousassets (stocks, bonds, cash, real estate, etc.) and identifiesrisk during the life-cycle of the trust and the steps neededto mitigate the risks. This covers from account pre-accept-ance through the death of the grantor to continuing trusts(marital and family) for the spouse and children and thenultimately becoming a generation-skipping trust for grand-children. Among the myriad of risks addressed in the sem-inar are KYC, acceptance process, investment manage-ment issues, initial and annual investment and administra-tive reviews, and dealing with miscellaneous assets, bothat incapacity and death of the grantor. COMMUNITY BANK DIRECTORS’ COLLEGEThe Community Bank Directors’ College was devel-oped in close conjunction with both state and federal reg-ulators, and is designed to teach individuals how tobecome a more effective, capable, and supportive mem-ber of a bank’s board of directors. It is CBAI’s goal tograduate directors who return to your bank more active,more knowledgeable, and more decisive. In effect, theywill be an even bigger asset to your community bank. TheCollege is offered once a year and provides a thoroughunderstanding of bank operations and bank directors’responsibilities. The college is recommended for both newand seasoned bank directors. Designed exclusively for CBAI members, seven CEOForums each provide a group of 15 or fewer non-compet-ing CEOs with an opportunity to freely exchange ideas, dis-sect problems, and discuss important issues with theirpeers. Designed to present a complete knowledge of bankingprinciples and operations to the newer community bankemployee, “Banking Essentials” consists of four one-dayseminars. Participants should have less than five yearsof banking experience.
