mould young men and women capable of assuming leadership of the
society for the betterment of the country.
PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY, an institution ofacademic excellence, was founded in the year 1951 by PSG& Sons' Charities Trust. The emphasis of the Trust was onvocational education & production oriented industrialtraining. In order to achieve these objectives, the founderswisely decided to locate the college in the same campusas the PSG Industrial Institute, which is a pioneer today inthe manufacture of several engineering products, likeprocess and agricultural pumps, industrial motors & highquality speciality castings. One unique feature at PSGCollege of Technology is the close collaboration ofeducational institution and industry, resulting in the crossfertilization of theory with practice. The undergraduateengineering students are required to spend half a dayevery week in the PSG Industrial Institute which enablesthem to study the actual production processes and givesthem an opportunity to observe the working of industry. This scheme has been hailed as a unique approach toinculcate industry culture among the students. In addition,a large number of projects, which the students undertakein collaboration with the PSG industrial institute and otherindustries meet the R & D requirements of industry.
The College has been in the vanguard of innovation intechnical education, and over the years has taken giantstrides and transformed itself into a prestigious centre foradvanced studies in several faculties of Engineering,Technology, Applied Sciences, Management Studies andComputer Science & Applications.
Recognizing the excellent facilities, faculty, progressiveoutlook, high academic standards and record performance, the University of Madras reposed abundant confidence inthe capabilities of the College, and PSG College ofTechnology was conferred Autonomous Status in the year1978, to update its own programmes and curriculum, todevise and conduct examinations, and to evaluate students'performance based on a system of continuous assessment. The academic programmes are designed and updated by aBoard of Studies at the department level and Academic
Council at the college level. These statutory bodies areconstituted as per the guidelines of the All India Councilfor Technical Education. A separate examination sectionheaded by a Controller of Examinations conducts theexaminations.
PSG College of Technology an AICTE approved institutionis affiliated to Anna University and ISO 9001 certified. Most of our programmes have been accredited byNational Board of Accreditation (NBA). Sedulous progresshas been the hallmark of PSG Tech. The growth anddevelopment of the college owed much to the untiringefforts of Dr. G.R. Damodaran, Founder Principal ofPSG College of Technology.
