Multimode and single-mode fiber adapters make the WireXpert into a full-featured optical fiber certifier. With this adapter, WireXpert tests and documents both fibers of a duplex cable simultaneously. The device automa-tically tests length and polarity against selected stan-dards, and measures attenuation at wavelengths of 850 nm and 1300 nm for multimode, and 1310 nm and 1550 nm for single-mode. The measurements are compared with the tolerances of the selected standard and a pass or fail result displayed. The PC reporting software Repor-tXpert is included to document the capabilities of the cabling in professional test reports.

The Lanexpert is the Swiss army knife for network engineers. It combines all the essential testing functions for an Ethernet net-work in a single user-friendly handset. With its two gigabit-Ether-net ports, the Lanexpert can either be connected to two indivi-dual ports, or patched into a network link. The LanExpert’s many test capabilities range from simple connection and ping tests to complete connection monitoring with statistical analysis. Its built-in expert function analyzes the data traffic and indicates possi-ble faults. This simplifies trouble-shooting significantly. In addition to passive network analysis, the Lanexpert can also be used to perform specific stress tests on the network. The Lanexpert tests the performance capabilities of whole network segments and WLAN links using standardized stress tests in accordance with RFC 2544.

The Lanexpert is available in two versions:

• Lanexpert 80 has two RJ45 ports with additional cable and PoE tests.

• Lanexpert 85 has two SFP ports for use with either copper or fiber optic SFPs (multimode or single mode)

The PingerPlus+ is a handy network tester with all the essential functions for testing the network connec-tions and availability of stations, servers and other network resources. The device is ready to test imme-diately, with no boot time, and uses the powerful ping function to test for network availability, duplicate IP addresses, transmission errors and response times.

It can also ping a whole block of IP addresses to determine which IP addresses are free. As a DHCP client, the PingerPlus+ also tests the functions of the DHCP server. Connected to a hub, switch or NIC, the PingerPlus+ indicates the hardware’s speed capacity (10/100/1000 Mbit/s) and duplex mode. The PingerPlus+ also detects faulty cabling and rever-sed polarity, and can identify the connected hub or switch port by making its LED blink.

CableTool is a cable tester for all types of copper cable, including network cables, antenna cables and even conventional power cables. Its built-in,

full-featured time-domain reflectometer (TDR) measures the cable length and the distance to faults such as breaks or shorts. Its voltmeter function allows you to

identify cables that are already on-line. The handset can be connected to power cables at up to 250 V to

measure voltage. The CableTool also provides a built-in cable-trace function: it emits a signal into

the cable that can be detected using the optional CableTracker Probe to locate and trace the cable’s

routing through ducts and inside walls.

In maintaining building wiring, it is often necessary to deter-mine which cable leads to a particular station and how it is routed. The CableTracker consists of a signal generator and a highly sensitive receiver. The signal generator transmits a low-frequency signal into one end of a cable.

The receiver is then used to follow the path of the cable by detecting the signal radiating from it. An acoustic signal indicates the proximity of the particular cable or port. The signal generator can also make the LED on the hub or switch port blink to facilitate quick identification of the station. Works with all types of copper cable.

The LanMaster 26 and 30 detect in just seconds whether a LAN socket is active,

and what signals it carries.

The LanMaster 26 performs a link test, checking for gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-TX), Fast Ethernet

(100BASE-TX) and standard Ethernet (10BASE-T), and measures voltage to test for PoE. This makes it easy to

detect faults in the network or half-duplex modes due to faulty auto-sensing. The testers can also

make the port LED on the hub or switch blink to identify the corresponding port quickly.

In addition, the LanMaster 30 identifies the following services: Analog telephony, ISDN,

PBX, 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet, Token Ring. PCs and network adapters can be damaged by being connected to an active jack carrying

the wrong service.

The LanMaster 30 protects you against incompatible voltage or load independant

currents that could destroy your network adapters.

The LanMaster 35 is an indispensable, handy test tool for installers and LAN operators, especially those who use Power over Ethernet (PoE): The LanMaster 35 power and link tester tests voltage under load, so that VolP telephones, WLAN access points and IP cameras work reliably when connected. Furthermore, the LanMaster 35 tests loop resistance to eliminate damaged cables and connectors. The LanMaster 35 also determines the speed and the duplex mode of an Ethernet link.

The LanMaster 35 makes it easy to measure the length of a cable run or a coiled cable, as well as the distance to a cable fault. The LanMaster 35 also identifies which switch port is connected to a given outlet jack by transmitting a link signal to make the port LED blink. Together with the optional CableTracker receiver CT15, it allows you to trace the cable routing and identify the cable’s other end.

The WLAN Test Kit lets you empirically measure the ra-dio field distribution in your premises before you install a wireless LAN. You can mount an access point on the tripod included and position it at the future installation

point, up to a height of about 3.8 meters. The access point can be powered by batteries built into the test kit case. The robust trolley case holds all the components
