Hot oil are used to dissolve PTA slurry in PTA

heater (BE-506A/B) and to generate steam 28Kg/cm2.G in OSBL Boiler (AE-102A/B).

Hot oil type : Therminol 66

Appearance : Clear, pale yellow liquid

Composition : Modified terphenyl

Flash Point (ASTM D-92) : 184 C (363 F)

Fire Point (ASTM D-92) : 212 C (414 F)

Density at 25 C : 1005 kg/m3 (8.39 lb/gal)

Normal Boiling Point : 359 C (678 F)

Optimum Use Range : 0-345 C (30-650 F)

Hot oil is analyzed by hot oil supplier (Solutia) once times per year

Operations

Heaters: Proper fluid-heater operation will help ensure

long life of the fluid. Common heater problems include

flame impingement, excessive heat flux, controlovershoot, low fluid flow, and interlock malfunctions.

Piping and pumps: A leak-free system will help to

ensure safe and reliable operation.

Hot Oil System Control

There are some hot oil control :

1. ATIC120B (to control hot oil OSBL furnace

temperature) shut down setting : 340o

C2. AFIC104 (to control hot oil minimum flow) flow

setting 600 m3/hr
