COATING SYSTEM NO.1A For External Application : INITIAL PAINTING - Carbon Steel Design Temperature < 110°C NON INSULATED in The Atmospheric Zone

A low durability (upto 5 years) coating specification designed for environments classified by ISO 12944-2 as C5-I very high corrosivity (Industrial).

Surface Preparation & Comments

Abrasive blast clean to Sa2.5 (ISO 8501-1:1988) or SSPC-SP10. If oxidation has occurred between blasting and application, the surface should be reblasted to the specified visual standard. Surface defects revealed by the blast cleaning process, should be ground, filled, or treated in the appropriate manner

A mist coat is recommended if cratering results when topcoating the inorganic zinc primer by applying the first coat reduced 1:1 with appropriate thinner and then follow with a second normal coat.

Please be informed that International Paint will cease manufacture of Tar containing products from the 1st of March 2005. The main reason for concern however is that products containing coal tar, coal tar pitches, tar acids, petroleum tar and petroleum tar pitches are all potential carcinogens (cancer causing). Therefore, we propose an alternative system as above.

COATING SYSTEM NO.16A For Internal Application : INITIAL PAIINTING, MAINTENANCE PAINTING FOR BLAST CLEANED SURFACE AND POWER TOOL CLEANED SURFACE - Diesel (Roof and Shell Plate) of Service Temperature Up to 60°C

A high performance coating specification for exposure in immersed environments. The specification provided is based on a maximum operating temperature of 50 C. Coatings for immersed conditions require special consideration and you must contact International for detailed advice on preparation , application and cure prior to their use.

Hand or Power tool clean all damaged and corroded areas to a minimum standard of St3 of ISO 8501-1:1988 (Swedish Standard SIS 05 5900)/SSPC- SP3.

Stripe coats should be applied to all welds, lap joints, plate edges, corners, sharp edges, and any other areas where spray application of the overall coating system may prove difficult resulting in low dry film thickness'
