PUBLIC MEETING/ONLINE SURVEY # 1 | RESULTS OVERVIEW The first public meeting of the Valley Springs Town Center Connectivity Plan was held on December 3, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The goal of this meeting was to provide an overview of the project, the intended outcomes, public engagement opportunities and a summary of the initial information collected. Most importantly, the first community meeting provided an opportunity for “ground floor” input regarding existing issues and barriers, as well as potential opportunities the community would like the Design Team to consider. An online survey was conducted as a follow- up opportunity for community members unable to attend the meeting to give feedback. OUTREACH EFFORTS In order to notify the public about the public meeting the following outreach efforts were made: Email blast via the My Valley Springs E-Newsletter My Valley Springs online post Pine Tree online post Flyer inserts via the Valley Springs News Project website post 24x36 sandwich board signs Press release to local media outlets Valley Springs Elementary School email blast Facebook posts via the Community Action Project, the Pine Tree, Motherlode Bicycle Coalition, Caltrans District 10

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS - PUBLIC MEETING1. If we had a road from Hogan Dam to Hwy 12 at Lime Creek it would alleviate the issues at

Hwy 12/26. Multiple people agreed.

2. Put in a bike connection from Down Town to Vista Del Logo.

3. There are visibility issues at this location

4. Everything is a pedestrian issue, that includes wheel chairs.

5. Consider using COG Community Circulation as a resource.

6. Extend Zone to Lime Creek.

7. Narrow Bridge, yield sign?

8. Roundabouts Please! Multiple people agreed.

9. A road from Hwy 12 to Paloma Road would help with Traffic on Daphne in Town. Multiple people agreed.

10. Traffic speed increases

11. Allow buses to park along Sequoia back before school area. Kids can be walked from to buses and from buses to school.

12. Need a connector road between Hwy 12/26 and Paloma. Multiple people agreed.

13. Pedestrian safety all the way.

14. Bike path along 26 (one side) from Vista Del Logo to Down Town.

15. Truckers park along highway to get food.

16. Signs block view.

17. Roundabout at Hogan Dam Road and Hwy 26 would help make it safer and easier to navigate. Multiple people agreed.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS - ONLINE SURVEY18. Its a mad house down there around lunch time.

19. Money has already been wasted on the bike lane on Daphne Street that is not used.

20. I go through town on a daily basis only to go to my job outside of this horrible town that offers ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WORKING PROFESSIONAL WOMEN!!!!!

21. A bypass is a must for relieving all aspects of safety mentioned in this survey, without that it would not make the downtown area any safer in my opinion. I have lived in Valley Springs all my life and by bypassing through traffic the town would benefit greatly other than that a signal light would help in addition to the bypass.

22. There needs to be better connectivity between the Valley Springs area and the MarVal shopping center as well as between Gold Creek and downtown. There is a cut through from La Contenta to GC which could be used for La Contenta residents to access GC and then continue to downtown.

23. There should be turn lanes for all the little roads connecting to hwy 26, and 55 is too high. There are home alond the hwy and should be reduced speeds to 35 or 45

24. “No one wanted round a bouta last time there was an infrastructure plan.

25. Part of this plan should include “community bumps” on Vista Del Lago from 26 to Hogan Dam Rd. “

26. “shame on all who were involved in the just recently overhauled intersection at 12/26.

27. the yield lane on west side is a danger since there is no room to MERGE!!!!! and why was this project not addressed then??? it seems to me that our town does not think things through when spending funds.”

28. Bike lanes and/ or paths to lake Hogan and Pardee please

29. Bicycle lanes or wider shoulders leading from shopping area (starbucks is regular meeting location) to join recreational cycle routes would improve safety enormously.

30. Enforcement and obedience to the rules we have first-speed limits and 3’ for cyclist, yield to pedestrians etc. comes first. Add signage, if no change in public behavior then look at infrastructure changes.

31. Please please please make more bike lanes and reduce speed zones. Thanks

32. The intersection of SR 26 and Hogan Dam Road is especially daunting for cyclists turning left onto Hogan Dam Road. A roundabout at this intersection would make it much safer.

33. Need bike lanes from Town Center to Lime Kiln, also along Paloma Rd to Campo Seco.

34. STUDY AREA NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED -- NOW NOT LATER -- TO INCLUDE GOLD CREEK, LA CONTENTA AND RANCHO.

35. More bicycle questions should be added to DMV testing

36. I’m a Valley Springs resident who lives in Gold Creek. I’d like to be able walk safely in the downtown area. I’d also like to make sure that elementary age children can walk and ride their bikes safely to school. I’m the principal at Jenny Lind Elementary and I work closely with Traci Welch at Valley Springs Elementary. You’re welcome to contact me if you need any support reaching out to parents of elementary age children in Valley Springs. I also have experience working with Safe Routes to School from when I was a vice principal at Foothill High School in Pleasanton. Please contact me if I can be of any assistance during this project.
