JANE’s WALK: sUNDAY, MAY 8Th, 12:30 pM TO 2:30 pM – FreeJoin us on Sunday, May 8th for Jane’s Walk in Mississauga. A global grassroots movement, Jane’s Walk celebrates the ideas and legacy of urbanist Jane Jacobs by getting people out exploring their community and meeting their neighbours. Free walking tours are led by people who want to create a space for residents to talk about what matters to them in the places they live and work.

ZONE A: spOrTs TrAiL – CAllIng All HoCkey FAnSstarting Location: 5600 rose Cherry Place. The Mississauga Sports Hall of Fame is located in the north lobby area of the Sports Complex (Hershey SportZone - building north of the Hershey Centre). From rose Cherry Place, follow the green “Sports Complex” signs to door “M” (you can also enter from door “n” and walk to the north end of the building).

Tour Time: 12:30 pm (2 hours)

Guides: Sports Hall of Famers including Susan Stewart (2008 – Basketball) and Maniac the St. Mike’s Majors Mascot

Event Details: Meet in the Mississauga Sports Hall of Fame for an interactive presentation about local hockey legends and to learn more about the MasterCard Memorial Cup, which is being hosted in Mississauga later in May. Be the first to see a new exhibit of iconic sports coats worn by none other than Hockey night in Canada’s outspoken broadcaster, Don Cherry. Then, join us on a tour of the Hershey Centre, home of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.

ZONE B: pOrT CrEDiT LiBrArY AND ArENA – For HISTory BUFFSstarting Location: Port Credit library, 20 lakeshore road east

Tour Time: 12:30 pm (2 hours)

Guides: Alan Skeoch (local historian), John Holland (founding member of the Port Credit Arena Board) and Al Foxton (Port Credit Arena Supervisor)

Event Details: Meet at the Port Credit library, where we will travel through the park along the river toward the Port Credit Memorial Arena for a tour of the newly reopened facility. looking to add to your family photo album? get in line to take a picture on the zamboni.

ZONE C: sTrEETsViLLE ArENA (ViC JOhNsTON COMMUNiTY CENTrE) – FAMIly SkATe PArTystarting Location: 335 Church Street

Tour Time: 12:30 pm (2 hours)

Guides: The Mississauga Big Band Jazz ensemble will provide music to skate to throughout the afternoon.

Event Details: kids of all ages are invited to take their moms to Vic Johnston Community Centre Arena for a free skate party to celebrate Mother’s Day! Hear great live music by the Mississauga Big Band Jazz ensemble and arrive early, the first one hundred moms through the door receive a complimentary flower.
