Welcome to The Quarry Lane School
The Quarry Lane School assists families with
before and after school enrichment. Quarry Lane
offers public day camp during the academic year
for most Pleasanton Public Schools.
In addition to our after school program, The
Quarry Lane School offers infant, toddler and
preschool programs, as well as Junior
Kindergarten and Kindergarten through high
school. Recreational and academic programs are
also available during the summer months for
school-aged children.
Guiding Principles
The Quarry Lane School believes in providing
structure for the child. We are concerned about the
individual emotional needs of each child. The staff
strives to provide love and organization; there is a
balance between relaxed social times and
organized group activities.
At The Quarry Lane School, children have fun
and parents can be assured their child receives
quality attention and care.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Public Day Camp Program was created to assist families with before and after school during the academic year for most Pleasanton Public Schools. The Quarry Lane School has youth buses and small passenger vans, that provide transportation for children enrolled in our program. Attention Kindergarten Parents: Please note
that we can only provide transportation for
children enrolled in the “A.M. Kindergarten”
programs.
School Hours The Quarry Lane School hours of operation are Monday through Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Drop Off and Pick Up
Children receiving before school care must be at QLS by 7:40 a.m. each morning. Children will be transported according to their public school schedule (8:00–8:15 a.m.). Children must be at the designated pick-up spot within five minutes of their public school’s dismissal. Please notify The
Quarry Lane School no later than 2:30 p.m.
(for 1st–5th graders) and/or 11:00 a.m. (for
kindergarteners) if your child does not need to be picked up from their public school. Written or faxed notification is required—fax (925) 462-1066. Please remind your child to be at the pick up point (see below) promptly after school. Public School Pick Up Locations
Alisal: Front of the school, by flagpole. Fairlands: Front of the school by Room #12. Mohr: Front of the school by the office. Vintage Hills: By the office on the covered
benches. Walnut Grove: Front of the school. Hearst: Front of the kindergarten classrooms. Valley View: Front of the school by the
flagpole.
Transportation to and from specific schools
may vary depending on enrollment.
Children must be picked up from The Quarry Lane School by 6:00 p.m. There is a $1.00 per minute late fee, per child, for every minute past 6:00 p.m. All late fees must be paid by check or money order to the front desk. A child picked up late more than five (5) times may be dropped from the program.
It is The Quarry Lane School policy and California State Law that every child must be signed in and out each day. A full signature is required. Only authorized people will be allowed to pick up your child. Identification (a valid picture ID) must be presented when a person comes to pick up your child. Written permission from parents must be submitted in order for your child to be released to an additional authorized person.
Faculty and Staff We provide an after school environment that balances both play and enrichment. In addition to our quality faculty, the school size and low ratios make the difference.
Homework Club
Children who are in grades one through five are eligible to attend Homework Club (Monday-Thursday). Homework Club is designed to help your child get a jump start on their homework. A quiet setting is provided to keep your child on track. You may require your child to attend Homework Club, or allow them to choose. Please note that tutoring services are not available. Space in our Homework Club is limited. Children in grades three through five will be given priority enrollment in the club.
Program Activities Science Projects Arts & Crafts Computer Lab Cooking Library Dramatic Games Outdoor/Cooperative Games
Snack and Lunch The Quarry Lane School provides an afternoon snack with milk or juice each day. Hot lunches are available through a catering company for children who are here during the noon lunch hour, at an additional cost. If your child will be here during the noon lunch hour, but you do not wish to purchase a hot lunch, please send lunch to school in a lunch box, or bag that has your child’s name. Please do not include food items that are high in sugar content. No candy, carbonated soda drinks, tree-nut, or peanut products are permitted at school. Nuts are prohibited at our school. Napping and Resting for Kindergarteners
Children attending kindergarten have a required afternoon rest period. The school provides a nap mat and parents are expected to supply a sheet or blanket.

Parents and children are required to abide by the policies and rules of the school including those in the Parent/Student Handbook. The School retains the express right to add, omit, amend, or change any policy or rule at any time. The failure of the parent and/or child to abide by the policies and rules of the school will constitute grounds for dismissal. If the conduct of the child or the parents is detrimental to the welfare of the child, or the school and its administration, the school in its sole discretion may dismiss the child. The Public Day Camp staff spends a considerable amount of time helping children understand the rules of the school and recognize their responsibility for appropriate behavior. Most disciplinary action takes the form of reminders, reprimands, or a quiet talk with the student. Discussion is preferred to automatic punishment. However, if there has been sufficient warning to children and parents, the following repeated infractions will result in certain privileges being taken away: Rudeness, fighting, throwing objects,
inappropriate language, chronic minor behavior
problems, and destroying property. A student who is disobedient to any Quarry Lane School staff member will receive an automatic reprimand. Repeated offenses may lead to suspension and possible expulsion. Privileges taken away could be removal from special events, daily activities, etc. All concerns will be directed to the appropriate
administrator of The Quarry Lane School. While
parents must act as an advocate for their child,
there may be times that parents may not agree
with decisions made by the school administration,
faculty or staff. Efforts by parents to lobby
negatively or destructively with other parents will
be viewed as detrimental to the school and will be
considered grounds for removal.
COMMUNICATION ADHERENCE TO SCHOOL RULES
Please check the parent board located in the room. This is the most effective way for you to be informed. Any changes in the schedule or important information will be posted here.
