The study will identify future improvements that will increase capacity and improve safety while maintaining access to existing businesses.

El Departamento de Transporte de Colorado (CDOT, en inglés) y la Administración Federal de Carreteras (FHWA), junto con la Ciudad de Grand Junction, están comenzando un estudio sobre mejoras de tráfico en la I-70B entre la intersección con la Ruta 24 y la Calle 15 en Grand Junction.

BORRADOR del Propósito del Proyecto

BORRADOR de Las Necesidades del Proyecto

El propósito general de este proyecto es: mejorar el flujo de tráfico, mejorar la seguridad, mejorar oportunidades multi-modales, y proveer acceso efectivo a lo largo de la I-70B.

La I-70B es la columna vertebral del sistema de transporte en Grand Junction. Está experimentando o se espera que va a experimentar los siguientes problemas:

• Los flujos de tráfico se aproximan a la capacidad durante horas picos y se espera que se va a sobrepasar la capacidad por periodos extendidos en el futuro

• Los índices de accidentes están más altos por este segmento de la I-70B que el índice promedio de carreteras parecidas en Colorado

• Muchos lugares de acceso existentes se caracterizan por puntos de conflicto múltiples, congestión, y altos índices de accidentes

• Hay servicios limitados y discontinuos para bicicletas, peatones, y buses
