CONCEPT & OBJECTIVEThe importance of private sector involvement in disaster riskreduction (DRR) has been recognized in the Sendai Frameworkfor DRR (SFDRR) 2015-2030. Accordingly, UNISDR has launchedthe Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies (ARISE)across many member states with purpose to create risk-resilientsocieties by energizing the private sector in collaboration withthe public sector and other stakeholders to deliver on the targetsof the SFDRR. In spite of this, concrete actions to develop suchpartnership have been limited in Malaysia.
The objective of this event is to discuss and extract the possibilities andchallenges of Public-Private-Academia Partnership (PPAP) for DRR in Malaysia.Specifically, the participants will discuss on (1) exploring possibilities to facilitaterisk-informed DRR investments in Malaysia and (2) visions and expectations forestablishing an action-oriented DRR partnership.
