!Those people in BrusselsThe book that will tell the truth about Lobbyists and give and insight into the exciting world entwined with numerous myths."Lobbyists – aren’t these those nasty guys that one hires to persuade politicians for dubious interests such as weapons, tobacco sales or fracking? Poor cartoonists draw pinstripe fellows, handing over suitcases. Completely poor ones draw a Euro or Dollar sign on the suitcase, so that everyone understands what is going on in Brussels. The simple truth, however, is that lobbyists are campaigning and advocating as well for consumer protection, environmental protection, child protection, labour rights, women’s rights, handicapped, regional development, cultural promotion, health promotion and many other laudable things. Ludger Fischer, a longtime lobbyist in Brussels and trainer of the EastInvest2 project, shows in this informative and entertaining book how he and his professional colleagues make an important contribution to democracy. An experienced insider tells who the people behind the scenes of EU policies are and how they work. An insight into the "engine room" of the European law factory! The press gets upset when politicians and officials meet with representatives of the economy. The press doesn’t get upset when they meet representatives of trade unions, consumers, environmental organisations or churches. Is this not lobbying? In this book one can learn how lobbyists do what they are paid for, their legal and not entirely legal tricks, how lobbyists feel, how politicians and officials, working closely with lobbyists, feel, what backbenchers, “sovereigns”, ousted politicians and EU officials think and feel and why, in principle, most of them don’t take bribe money. It is about careerists, ousted people, exploiters, PlaceLux-performer, the squeamish, the spring-boarder, the frustrated, the lonely, about deputies, worker bees, inspectors, Commission officials and, of course, it is about lobbyists. They are pulling the strings.

• The perfect guide on how to intervene successfully

• Tips and tricks of an experienced policy adviser

• Lobbying is democracy pure

• An insider blows the whistle on what lobbyists really do in Brussels

The book will be published on 9 May 2016 in German language. Translation into the languages of all eastern partnership countries is foreseen.Contact: Ludger Fischer - [email protected]
