What can you copy?

• Some documents are protected by Copyright.– Plans stamped by an Architect / Engineer– Plans plainly marked as Copyrighted

• Some plans are copy restricted to protect privacy– Interior floor plans

• Copyrighted documents require owners written permission to copy.

However, all documents are public record, and available for viewing.

Due Diligence

• Beware purchasing a property before checking for open and or required permits. – Many open permits have already had the work

completed, and merely need a final inspection to close the permit.

– On occasion, it may be less expensive to “restore” a structure to its original condition vs. completing the project.
