Class 2M News: Thank you everyone for organising your child’s costume and coming on Saturday, because of your efforts the day was a tremendous success! I especially enjoyed having so many visitors to our classroom and watching the children enjoy the old fashioned laundry, cooking, butter making and classroom! Thank you so much to everyone that contributed to the set-up, pack-up, displays (including helping your child complete their timeline), flowers, cakes, bbq, costumes and photos.

This week in 2M we are busily working on writing our own stories, learning about the names and properties of 3D shapes in Maths and classifying animals based on their features in Science. It was interesting to find out that a snail

Class 3BJ News:

Candelo 150 years was certainly a busy time for our class – each child had to prepare a story for our class book to commemorate the occasion, create a portrait for the Hallway gallery; and research history topic to complement Mr Dunning’s history work. A small group of us went on a fact finding mission to locate signs on buildings about when they had been established and to look at the artefacts in Eric’s garage and on the bridge. The interview with Eric gave us lots of information.

Each day we had to practise for the Maypole and our exercise exhibition, that is when the weather permitted!

The children who played guitar, ukulele or a brass/wind instrument as well as performed with the recorder group and in the dance group were absolutely amazing on the day. Costume changes required organisation skills and the children handled the changes beautifully.

Congratulations to all of the children in our class who did their bit for the 150 Years celebration – the children will remember their achievements with great pride.

Thank you boys and girls and Jenny our fabulous supporter, for the amazing work done behind the scenes to ensure everything was just perfect on the day. Thanks also to Sam Johnson who organised the music for us for the exhibition and to Robyn Martin for preparing the singing and music for the Birthday song – fantastic work with so many children!

Practising Maths is going well we are up to Unit 8 this week and up to o sound in Sound waves (orange and watch) – pretty tricky! We will celebrate with those children who managed their books for 8 weeks and are up to date!

Tuesday after school we will be happy to help children who need that little bit extra to build confidence and/or who wish to extend their learning.

Awards this week: Hayden, Lilly and Ruby G: Excellent cooperation and achievement in all areas. Riley: Commitment to learning. Lance and Lacey: Working beautifully and supporting other students. Suezanne Bourke and Sam Johnson
