We hope everyone had an enjoyable break. We have a lot on this term and we are working through all of the new COVID-19 guidelines to ensure student safety.

Unfortunately we are still not permitted to have external visitors on site unless it is for learning support meetings. We are working out ways to include parents/carers and share the great work we are doing. I encourage you to download the NSW School updates app to ensure that you are notified when schools are closed due to a crisis.

We are now allowed to start our 2021 Kindergarten orientation program and a letter will be sent home this week with further information and details. Please let anyone you know who is enrolling for next year and if you know of anyone who is ready to send their child, that we look forward to welcoming them to our excellent school community.

We understand that parents are keen to hear about Year 6 celebrations and are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Year 6 ‘Garden party’ in the school on Tuesday the 15th December. We are working currently in the process of organising details in line with health guidelines and will provide you with further information as soon as possible. Again we appreciate your patience with this as we are keen to celebrate the successes of this excellent cohort of students.

Learners band and Big band will restart this week with guidelines in place. Please ensure students bring their instruments to Learners band on a Thursday and Big Band on Friday morning as well as their normal lessons. Unfortunately they are currently unable to perform in our weekly assembly but we are grateful that our music program can restart even in a smaller capacity.

We have unfortunately had to make the disappointing decision to cancel the end of year concert this year. We understand that the dance and music program in particular have worked very hard this year and we are intending to share their work through video online. We will also not be hosting Presentation day but instead will provide an in school awards ceremony and will again film this by stages and share online.

The Year 5 linkage day to Toronto High School has been cancelled due to COVID-19 guidelines. Information for Year 5 students regarding Year 7 Selective High School applications for 2022 will be sent out today with the newsletter to that grade only. The note provided is only an ‘Intention to apply’ so that we can monitor the process.

The ‘Tell Them From Me’ survey has now been closed for parents, teachers and students and we really appreciate the great response and feedback we got this year.

In staffing news Ms Jeffrey will be on leave this term as she is having knee surgery and we wish her a speedy recovery. It is with gratitude that I was successful in my application to continue in the role of Relieving Principal for the remainder of the year. We are fortunate that Miss Blatch has accepted continuation of her Relieving Instructional Leader position.

LIBRARY NEWS – Book Week Celebrations When: Thursday 22nd October Time: 9:10am Our annual book character parade with a twist. This year all our students will parade around the block. They will be walking in their classes supervised by all staff and parents/carers are asked to socially distance.

During library lessons this week your child has viewed the book fair and has made a wish list to take home. The book fair will start Thursday 22nd October and finish Friday 6th November. Photos of items for sale will be available for viewing on the school website at the end of this week.
