Dear Parents and Carers

Last Wednesday saw a number of our band members take part in a one day band camp at Ryde East. Students from Truscott Street, Kent Road, Ryde East and North Ryde Public Schools worked with members of the Ryde City Concert Band to hone their skills. Our students performed as part of a combined band and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you to the parents who organised transport for our students.

school office or drop them into the Truscott Street collection boxes at Top Ryde, Macquarie Centre and

Woolworths Marsfield. At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment,

including resources for Maths, English and Science.

Enrolments are now being taken for Kindergarten 2018. Children who will be turning 5 years old on or

before 31st July, 2018 are eligible for enrolment. If you are intending to enrol your child, or know of children

in the local area, who are intending to enrol at Truscott Street next year, could you please

contact the office for an enrolment form.

Fete News continued Entertainment program Below is the Entertainment schedule for the day. All children from Truscott Street are involved in at least one item and need to be stage side at least 5 minutes before their performance. For Band and percussion groups, you will need to be at stage side at least 15 minutes before to ensure your instrument is tuned and set up. Please note that this schedule may change slightly before Fete Day but the school items will not move. There are a few spots available for the Talent Show - please contact Amanda on 0423 768 410 or [email protected].

We understand that everyone wants to see their child perform and it is possible that you will be rostered on at this time. This will affect many volunteers during the day so we are asking for everyone to help and if you see stall that needs some assistance, jump in and give them a hand. Cake stall We need your support for 1D's cake stall by providing baked or pre-prepared yummy treats to sell on Fete Day. Cake boxes and food trays will be sent home to each family on Thursday 7 September. Details will be provided shortly. Fete Committee

Band News

Last Wednesday a small group of Senior Band members was chosen to represent the school and take part in a band workshop day hosted by Ryde East Public School. The Ryde City Concert Band ran workshops and tu-tor groups to teach students from 5 local schools to play as one big band that afternoon. The result was amazing! After only a few hours together, the children performed Sesame Street and Star Wars at a small concert. They sounded great and it was good to see so many kids playing music together. We look forward to being involved in this great activity next year. On the 23rd of August, while everyone was dressed for the book parade, 9 band students, Saffiya, Shiming, Ben, Aden, Jonathan, Marnie, Dulandie, Loki & Rosie got the opportunity to go to Ryde East Public School. We worked with a conductor, Mr White, the relieving principal, to produce two awesome songs, Sesame Street and Star Wars. At the end the huge band of 5 mixed schools of about 100 students performed the two songs we learnt to the audience Ryde East K-2s. We discovered new melodies, made new friends and had a blast. Dulandie D It was great fun to go to another school for a day. I didn't know what to expect, but playing music as part of a big band was really good. We sounded good by the end. I'd recommend it to anyone who gets the chance to go. Loki D
