The City Only Service Schedule is active when Radford University is not in full session such as Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring Breaks. Routes 10, 40, and 60 do not operate during those times. During City Only Service, Routes 30 and 31 operate as usual. In addition to service to Fairlawn, Route 20 provides service to Greenhill Apartments. Route 50 provides service to Food Lion and Ridgewood Lane.

Travel & Safety Tips • Flagging down a bus: Do not step out in front of the bus or attempt to “flag” a bus down between stops.• Exact fare is required: Please have exact fare, Radford University ID, or a pre-paid bus pass ready to show the driver when boarding.• Beware of traffic: Traffic does not stop for Radford Transit buses while passengers are disembarking. PLEASE look carefully if you are crossing the street. Be safe and utilize crosswalks where available.• Wheelchairs: Wheelchairs are required to be secured to the floor on all buses before the vehicle is permitted to move.

• Alcohol containers: Open alcoholic containers are not permitted on buses or at bus stops.

• No smoking, eating, or drinking: Food or beverages may be brought onto the bus provided the items are in a closed container.• Service animals: All pets are prohibited on our vehicles. The use of a service animal is permitted. • Passenger conduct: Any disruptive, violent, or otherwise dangerous behavior on any vehicle will not be tolerated. Passengers may be removed from transit vehicles at any time for disruptive behavior.• Be safe when standing: If you have to stand, always maintain a firm and secure grip on the handrails.

• Baby strollers: Baby strollers are to be folded, stowed securely, and kept away from the center aisle on all transit vehicles.

Q. What is “the Hub”?A. The Hub is Radford Transit’s central transfer stop. Most routes stop at the Hub at :40 minutes past the hour.

Q. What is a “Timecheck”?A. Buses leave the Timecheck at the times listed on the schedule. The bus always stops at designated Timechecks. Timechecks are special stops that help keep the schedule consistent. The clock (above right) is used on the map to indicate stops that are Timechecks.

Q. What is a transfer, and why would I need one?A. In order to reach some locations, you may need to switch routes. When boarding the bus, be sure to let the driver know that you will need a transfer slip.

Q. Does the bus stop at every stop every time it goes by?A. No. The bus stops only when there are passengers waiting to exit or board the vehicle.

Q. How do I signal the bus driver that I need to exit the bus at the next stop?A. All buses are equipped with a yellow stop request cord that is located above and beside the windows. Pull the cord briefly to signal to the driver that you wish to exit the vehicle.

Q. What is the fare for children ages 12 and under?A. Children ages 12 and under, who are accompanied by a paying adult, ride at no charge. Unaccompanied children ages 12 and under must pay the full fare.

A Community Transit vehicle will meet you at the Hub and transport you to the emergency room entrance of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Remember to schedule a return trip.
