Michigan

• I live in Michigan, were the automotive industry in the United States was born.

• Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company in 1903.

• There is very little public transportation in Michigan. Major Cities do have bus systems, but there subway system like in other large cities. (New York, Chicago, etc.)

What Should My Community Do?

• I think large cities in Michigan should develop a train system for mass transit.

• Michigan has lots of expressways, shown in red on the map, but everyone drives there own car.

• If there were a rail system between Brighton and Ann Arbor (stars on map) there would be fewer cars on the road.

Why Brighton to Ann Arbor?

• Ann Arbor is a college town (University of Michigan) with lots of interesting things to do on the weekends

• There are a lot of people who work in Ann Arbor and live in the Brighton Area

• Ann Arbor has a good city bus system to get around on after you get there.

• People would use it for work during the week and pleasure on the weekends

Climate Change Effects

• This train system would:

– Reduce the amount of gasoline that people consume in Michigan.

– Reduce the emissions of pollutants from automobiles such as Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, and Nitrogen Oxides.
