    Waitaki Bridges Replacement –

    Bridge Construction Progress

Bridge #1 – Hakataramea Bridge Piling has now been completed, and work on the last crosshead (pier) should be finished next

week. Installation of the structural steel has started, with completion scheduled for early

April. Precast panel placement is due to start in late March, followed by concreting of the

deck, with a target to complete this work by May/June.

Bridge #2 – Kurow Bridge Progress is as scheduled, with the bridge deck now completed and only road furniture

(handrails and signs) to install. A Bridge Opening ceremony is planned for early April – with

the date to be confirmed at the forthcoming Community Meeting (details below).

Roadworks Bridge #2: Road works have already commenced on the Kurow side of this bridge. Work on

the road approaches and new alignment, including the intersection, should be completed in

time for the Bridge Opening ceremony (but is weather dependent). Initially, only one-way

traffic will be permitted across the new bridge to allow the old bridge to be de-constructed

and the approach road finished. De-construction of the old bridge, estimated to take 4-6

weeks, is planned for April. Temporary Traffic Management will be in place during de-

    construction of the old bridge.

Community Meeting A Community Meeting will be held on Thursday 20 March 2014 at the Kurow Memorial Hall,

commencing at 6.00 pm. The Agenda will include opening of the new bridges, traffic

management during project completion, and de-construction of the old bridges. There will be

the opportunity for questions and answers during the evening, and light refreshments at the

    conclusion of the meeting.
