RAFEE CHOUDHARY Gandoh (Doda), Sep 2: Family members of a 28-year old Gujjar youth, who was among the persons who went missing, following commu- nal clashes in Kishtwar on August 9, have lost all hopes of his return as police con- tinue to be clueless about his whereabouts. Hailing from Balgram, Donandi, a small hamlet situated in one of the inacces- sible areas of Gandoh Tehsil, Dil Muhammad son of Qadir Bakash was among the two labourers, who went missing after the communal clashes. His colleague and friend Miser Din returned home only to reveal the horrific experi- ence he faced during the three days of struggle to save his life from the hooligans. The aggrieved family members said they have been informed by some other labourers, who were also working in Paddar, when the clashes broke out, that there was very little hope that Dil Muhammad was alive. “Initially we were told that like other labourers Dil will also return home. But it is almost a month now and there is no news about him”, Ahmed, cousin of the missing youth told Greater Kashmir . He said the only brother of the missing youth also accom- panied the search party to Paddar. “But till now nothing has come out”. About a dozen labourers, who were working in Paddar area during the just con- cluded Machail Yatra, have returned home during the last few days but nobody is said to have seen Dil, since he went missing after violence broke out in Paddar. Deputy Inspector General of Police Ramban-Doda-Kisht- war range Ashkoor Wani said that the search was in prog- ress and police was hoping to trace the missing youth soon. “We have established a search team, which is in Paddar to trace him”, he said. Though the police was still hopeful, the colleagues of the missing youth claimed that there were very little chances of his being alive. “I don’t think he is alive. Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function at Raj Bhavan here, Omar said everybody has his own political view. “Music is in our culture. Projecting it in a way that it is against Kash- miriyat or outside its ambit is absolutely wrong. As far as (separatists’ claim) that Kash- mir issue would be diluted by the concert, either their lead- ership is weak or Kashmir issue is weaker to an extent that a musician can affect it simply through his music,” Omar said. “If a musician can change the nature of Kashmir issue, then it won’t remain an issue anymore.” Omar said things like con- cert by Zubin Mehta should not be linked with politics. “It is German Embassy’s effort to give exposure to Kash- miri people, which is a good thing,” he said. Despite stiff opposition by both factions of Hurri- yat Conference, stage is set for the concert in Shalimar Garden here on September 7. At least 1500 guests including VIPs would attend the concert where Mehta and his orches- tra comprising 100 musicians would play Beethoven, Haydn and Tchaikovsky. Germany’s Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner, in an interview with Greater Kash- mir last month asserted that the r r concert was purely a cultural event and completely apolitical.
