Our Time Here

We fell in love with the peaceful secluded location; it’s rural and private. yet convenient for travel links. The house is lovely and cosy and the layout flows nicely. It felt like home from the minute we moved in. There are so many special features here. We love the cosy living room in the winter, sitting by the log fire with a hot drink or glass of wine. We also enjoy the conservatory where we have spent many an hour in the summer evenings just sitting talking whilst watching the wildlife in the garden. The rayburn in the kitchen is a great favourite with all our guests who just love to come in from the cold and hug it! It’s also excellent for cooking on. Upstreet has a small friendly community with a convenient and well-stocked post office. There are riverside pubs nearby and a very good primary school in just up the road in Chislet. We particularly like the countryside walks out across the marshes and the numerous public footpaths in the area. If you have horses the hacking is also good around here. We are downsizing due to retirement now, but we will miss the space the house and garden has to offer. The property lends itself so well to entertaining and we will miss having outdoor parties at the weekends with lots of people staying over. We will also miss the large workshops and watching the wildlife in the garden.

The Port of Dover with its Cross-Channel ferries, Channel Tunnel terminal at Cheriton and the Ashford International passenger service station are all within easy reach. Recreational facilities are also good with sports centres and swimming pools located in Herne Bay and Canterbury, a selection of golf courses, Championship cricket at St. Lawrence Cricket Ground and sailing along the coast.
