Featuring world-renowned French flut-ist, Nicolas Duchamp, his son/cellist Leonard Du-champ, soprano Helen Wong and pianist James Esterline.

News from the Hope Center

We can’t say thank you enough to all those who sponsored, volunteered, bid on items, and came to this year’s Raising Hope Brunch and Silent Auction. Your hard work and con-tributions made the sold-out event a memorable afternoon for all. Thank you again!

Bath Supplies: Some of our young people are in need of wash-cloths, loofahs, scrubs, and body wash for men or women. If you are able to donate supplies, please bring them to The Hope Center office or, if you prefer, contact [email protected] to arrange a time.

Summer Intern Program: Over the course of the summer , be-

tween 20 and 24 young people will be participating in paid 10-week in-ternships with local area non-profits and businesses. Last year, fully 100% of participants felt better prepared for the workforce after participating in the program. We still have a need for transportation volunteers to drive young people to and from the worksites:

1) A young lady is working at Catholic Parish Outreach. She’ll be working Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 9:30am—1:30pm. She needs someone to drive her there and back.

Home: Carriage Light Court, Raleigh Internship: Catholic Parish Outreach, 2013 Raleigh Blvd., Raleigh 2) A young man is working at the radio station 92.1. He needs to

get there on Mondays by 1pm and on Thursdays by 10am. Home: Riverbirch Drive, Knightdale Internship: Radio 92.1, 3630 Capital Blvd., Raleigh 3) A young man is working at the LGBT Center. He needs a ride

there by 11:45am on: Thursday, July 13 from home; Thursday, July 27 from school; and Thursday, August 3 from school.

Home: Riverbirch Drive, Knightdale

LGBT Center: 324 S Harrington St., Raleigh 4) A young lady who is working at The Tammy Lynn Center for

Developmental Disabilities. She needs to get there by noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Home: Marshlane Way, Raleigh Tammy Lynn Center: 739 Chappell Dr., Raleigh

Erin Witcher, The Hope Center

Dates for Sunday Coffee Fellowship

Our 30-minute coffee time between Sunday groups and worship will meet only on the Sundays when we also meet for our Sunday Groups. This means we will not offer this activity on July 2 and August 20.

Raleigh to Host Comprehensive Plan Public Meetings

The City of Raleigh is updating the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, the key policy docu-ment that shapes the physical development of the city. Residents are invited to attend one or all public meet-

ings to learn about how the Comprehensive Plan addresses five areas: resiliency, housing, development transitions, transportation and sustainability.

The following is the schedule for the two re-maining public meetings, with the theme for each meeting:

Transportation—Tuesday, June, 27, 7-8:30 PM at Pioneers Building in Method Road Community Park, 514 Method Road. The theme will be transportation. Provided will be a vision for future de-velopment of the city's connectivity net-work for all modes of transportation, pub-lic transit systems, greenways, and bicycle and pedestrian networks; and,

Sustainability—Tuesday, July 11, 7-8:30 PM at Durant Nature Preserve, 8305 Camp Durant Road. The meeting's theme will be sustainability or focusing on the interdependent relationships of environ-mental stewardship, economic strength and social integrity. These three elements define the vision for sustainability.

City of Raleigh staff will be in attendance to discuss these key themes and provide guidance as to how citizens can comment and provide feedback. The Comprehensive Plan Update is being released in installments during May and June. Visit the City's website at raleighnc.gov/business/content/PlanDev/Articles/LongRange/ComprehensivePlanUpdate.html.
